If you want to see how your lifestyle is working for you or against you,you can go to www.realage.com (http://www.realage.com) and take the test...

It takes about 20-30 minutes to complete the questions, and they gave me a report in 1-2 hours that showed me what I am doing right...and what I am doing wrong to improve my biological age..

My test results are top secret...I was not dis-pleased though and found that strength training and exercise program were at the top of the "good things" list...

There are some questions about your sexual habits..would that offend you ? or would it tweak your interest ?

P.S. I've got get more Lycopene in my diet...

Oddly enough I did that yesterday out of boredom. I used a fake e-mail address so I didn't get the report. But my "real age" is a few years below my, um, "real age."

The high stakes version of this game is life insurance refinancing. I've been doing that for a while. I completely agree about the strength training and exercise. Plus, I am probably close to the LD50 for Lycopene.

The only thing I would add is that they come up with this stuff based on a bunch of studies that estimate all these conditional probabilities. It's not clear to me that they correctly aggregate them together. It's not clear that the life insurance companies do a better job, because they rate stuff based to some extent on how well they can finance and reinsure it.

So do you get "in" and "out" of this test clean?

Or is it a come-on for endless Spam-pestering and other products?

HevyMetal..

I have not had anything strange going on... I took the test on July 1..

Have had a adware pest, but that was going on before July 1..I think AT&T installs it,and MS quarantines it..

Really like your new signature..That is a neat quote..have to remember that one...

P.S..I sent that realage link to a female classmate and she emailed me that her "realage" is 9.5 years younger than her calendar age..She is one of those "late in life" exercisers..daily..She was happy..

Well I'm 15.5. Hurrah teenager.

It's interesting but not extensive enough to be very well done. But if it did go into full detail I'm sure most of us wouldn't have bothered to take it. For instance it says my vitamin E levels are low purely because I don't take any supplements, but then goes on to say that sweet potatoes have high levels of the vitamin....oh wait, you can complete a more indepth nutrition assessment.

It's a nice tool that might highlight any shortcomings in your lifestyle.

Hey Carguy..

It's easy to figure that you would "Ace" that test...:claphigh:

A ten year lifestyle advantage is a "biggy"...

I sent the link to a friend who emailed me back and said his results were a "disaster." 7.5 years OLDER..good thing though is that he is motivated to work on the action plan to improve his health..that's good..

Mine was 5.2 years advantage, and I was pleased with that...could have been worse..

Is this one of those tests where they subtract 15 years off your "Realage" if you admit to riding your motorcycle without a helmet to get your mail?

I just took this test for fun....and discovered that I am 2 years OLDER than my chronological age.

The reasons they gave for my less than stellar performance:

1) Crappy diet: I don't eat 5 servings of vegetables per day. Hey, what can I say? Vegetables aren't food, they are what food eats!

2) My BMI is too high. Don't get me started...

3) Quote from my report: "You spend 0 minutes a week doing cardiovascular exercises and activities. This amount is well below the 210-minute goal for cardiovascular exercise."

4) But then, they give me this warning: "However, your current level of intensity in performing both strength-building and cardiovascular exercises and activities may be too high. We measure the weekly intensity level of your workouts by calculating the total number of calories per week that you burn doing these exercises and activities. Based on your answers, we estimate that you probably expend more calories per week than the baseline amount recommended for maximum Age Reduction benefits, which is 1,000 to 3,500 calories each week." I can't win.

5) I don't wear a seatbelt, and I drive too fast.

6) I don't own a dog.

7) I have high cholesterol -- (This one ain't going away).

I did a few things right though ... Low saturated fat intake, high omega-3 intake, eat breakfast, take vitamins, have advanced educational degree, have normal blood pressure....etc.....so I guess I'm only mildly screwed.

well, I am 10 years younger then my real age. LOL.

My biggest factors? Too much red meat, too high bmi (shut up), not enough friends (I guess I should go to church?), too low consumption of healthy fats - they only asked if I ate almonds or nuts. Not whether I use olive oil, supp with anything, etc...

Pretty good idea for a site, the implementation could use a bit of work though.

Hey JoeSchmo..

Here's an idea...Get the dog and do what my gymbuddy CC did..

When the contaminated pet food thing was made public, he started making home cooked food for his black lab, Katie..

Chicken breast, brown rice, and vegetables...It looked so good that he started eating it too...Now he an Katie have lunch together every day..he claims to have lost 4 lbs. of fat..

Edit: I just saw CC at the Y...He said that it would be a good idea to take the dog to "Doggie Day Care", one morning a week so that it can play with other dogs....Katie just loves DDC...

I'm telling you....I would LOVE to get a dog. I love dogs, and I've always thought it would be great to own one. The only problem is that I don't have a yard and I'm rarely home. Maybe one of these days...sigh....

But yeah, that meal you describe is usually what I eat for my last meal of the day (usually chicken breast with yams or green beans). I got docked on the diet because that is usually the only vegetables I eat during the day....and I usually only eat 1 piece of fruit per day (about 1 serving). They also said that I need to get 1200mg of vitamin C per day (that seems a little high IMO).

It's been interesting to see younger JSF members take the realage test..and how much younger they really are due to lifestyle. There are some "false negative" results, but I think the overall rating is good..

I think we can say that the JSF lifestyle DOES make you younger, but we already knew that !!! :D

Owning a dog is supposed to contribute to a longer life?

Get real!

If anything my two dogs have shaved at least a few years off my life.

They are annoying beyond imagination. I personally will never own another dog as long as I live.

Banderbe...

You are crazy about those dogs and you know it...You were prob just pissed because they chewed up a pair of running shoes, or your couch..:D...but that is not the purpose of my post..

When we took the realage test, they provided an action plan...I made some of the changes and updated my test..added 2 sessions of Hiit per week,400 mg of vit E,and boosted my cardio (been listening to too many "experts" for 9 months on JSF)..Real age lowered my age by 1.8 more years..Man, I'm getting "Young"..

don't get me wrong..I don't believe everything anybody tells me, but I do some stuff like this to hold up my motivation...Say Hi to the dogs..and play with them more...they love you...Ha..
