View Full Version : Hypotension?

I had my BP/heart rate checked yesterday and the BP number was a bit lower than the "120/80" optimum. I did a quick google of "low BP" and I'm borderline "hypotension," which is apparently the opposite of "hypertension."

Can anyone tell me if this sounds okay--

BP: 110/63

Heart Rate: 57 bpm

I haven't noticed any problems (in fact I feel better than ever).

i was in arguably the best shape ever cardio wise when my BP was 98/58 or something crazy low like that, and my resting heart rate was ~ 45-48.

when i went in for surgery, the anesthesiologist had to be extra careful with the amount of stuff to give me, because my bp could drop too much, same for heart rate, i was already at like 42bpm with just saline iv and relaxing.

for athletes, 'normal' is different.

110/63 is fine. Most definitions of hypotension are <100/60 but even those definitions don't take everything into account they are just based on population averages. So, even though mattback's 98/58 would fall under the definition of hypotension it wouldn't be a concern. Hypotension is usually a concern when something is making the BP drop - like blood loss or shock.

Yah, I wouldn't worry about it. When I was lighter I was right around 100/60 for a while, and had no problems with it.
