Nobody here is going to be able to tell what's wrong with you without more information and an examination so it would be silly to try to diagnose your problem. So don't panic. Go to the doctor, get it checked out, and then take it from there. Picturing worst case scenarios is not going to help you.

Well first of all, that would not be the end of it all. Your life would not be ruined :) Many people survive cancer these days. Even if it delays college, it doesn't mean you won't go to college. Just means it will be delayed. So don't worry about that.
On a second note, if that was a tumor or cancer and it hurt that bad, it would probably be rather large. That means that it would push on other parts of your brain. This means that other functions would be affected. Example: someone I know did have a brain tumor, and she started to lactate... even though she hadn't given birth... Point is that you would see other effects.
If anything it could be migraines, a pinched nerve, whatever... Your doctor can tell you better than a software developer ( me ) ... Don't be afraid of your doc. he is there to help, and if you avoid him because you fear something is wrong, that is only going to allow the problem to get worse, to where it could ruin your life.
My advice, if it hurts bad enough for you to post here, you should go to your doctor and see what he thinks. But like I said, it is most likely a pinched nerve or something trivial... Check up or check out man, you gotta get to the doctor ....

I had a similar symptom 13 years ago. Very sharp pain above ear. In my case it sometimes got worse when I laughed or did something with my throat or neck in a certain way. I went to the doctor, and he gave me some pills. I was so desperate just to take the pills and get relief that I totally forgot to even ask the doctor what was wrong with me!
All I can say is that the pills worked astonishingly quickly and completely.
Some years later, I was able to read a copy of my medical notes and saw an entry at around the right time for "migraine".
First time sufferers may be pleased to learn that I have never had another attack since then.
