I'm planning on picking up some stevia and wanted to know if you'd recommend liquid or powder form.

I've wondered about Stevia myself too. I've been wanting to try it, but have no idea where to get it. It isn't at the normal stores around here, so I've been meaning to go to Whole Foods sometime to see if it's there.

they sell it at a wholefood grocery store by me. I use the packets and use them as I would if its sweet n' low. I use 3 of them each time I make the oatmeal/cottage cheese pancakes.:tucool:YUM

Wal-Mart Superstores carry it around me in the packs.

I've bought the larger shaker style container before at one of the natural foods type of grocery store.

I've not confirmed it yet, but I'm suspicious that Stevia and me don't mix digestively. I keep meaning to try it again, but a few times when I've used it, I've had some "issues".

Personally I use the powder. The liquid has alcohol in it.

I've been using the powdered form for ages...no problems.

Never tried the liquid.

My Stevia packets also contain Maltodextrin.

Listed as zero calories.

Stevia can leave a bit of an aftertaste. But it's good.

Right now I'm using Kaizen 100 % Whey Isolate...which comes with Stevia in it for sweetener.

There are other brands of protein powder I like too...but they always have some crap chemical sweetener in them which I don't like.

ISO-Stack is one....if it wasn't for their chemical soup I'd use that one all the time..

Stevia is natural....:tucool::tucool:

Edit: I live in Canada...Stevia is sold in health and grocery stores everywhere. It's also in Canuck Whey powders.

Thanks for that, John. I didn't know the liquid had alcohol in it, although I do remember it tasted odd. That explains it. I personally use the packets.

For those having trouble finding Stevia, remember that for various ridiculous political reasons the FDA has not approved it for sale as a food product (thank the artificial sweetener companies).

Because of this, Stevia can only be sold as a "dietary supplement," and must be stocked with other supplements and vitamins. It cannot legally be sold next to food or beverages. The packaging cannot directly state or imply that it should be used as a food product, and employees are not legally able to tell you that it can be used as a sweetener or how its taste compares to sugar (granted, many do, but they could get in serious trouble or be fired for doing so).

Any Whole Foods will carry it, but check the supplement sections of other stores and you might easily find it there.

It's VERY sweet, so start out small, especially if just sweetening a beverage or putting it on grapefruit.
