how do you guys put oil in your shakes for fat?

i use on whey and am wanting to put some olive oil in there for a fat source.

i take the shakes with work to me and only have a restroom to wah out my shaker.

what i do is put some water from the fountain in the shaker and then add some whey and shake it up and let it set for a few minutes for the bubbles and foam to subside. the i drink it and take it to the restroom to wash it out.

it cleans out very easy and then i re-use it for the next round...and am currently using some plastic throw-away spoon to scoop out a little pb for some fats to go along with the shake.

i wanted to try some olive oil for a change.

i guess you mix your shake up and then pour in the desired amount of oil and shake it up again.

i was worried about calculations b/c i am sure much of the oil is going to stick to and coat the shaker, so i was wondering how much more oil you would put above and beyond what you actually need.

this leads to another problem i forsee. does putting oil in the shaker make it a pain in the a$$ to clean out once you are done with it?

i dont have a dishwasher, or spongie or anything like that at work to clean up the mess..so what would be the best way to clean it up so one could re-use it for the next go around?

or would it be better to just drink the shake as is and take a couple gulps from to oil bottle directly...that is if i dont puke after attempting such a thing.

thanks

I used to add my flax oil to my shakes when I wanted the fat. It does coat the shaker and makes it more difficult to clean. But, it is nothing that a normal soap won't take care of. As for the additional amount that you might need to add because of the coating....you are waaaayyy overthinking it. The amount would not be enough to worry about.

I got tired of the additional cleaning. I just use a tablespoon now and drink it separate from my shake. That would take care of all your worries.

I drink Flax/Protein shakes all of the time. I wouldn't worry about coatings inside the shaker bottle. I'm sure some amount sticks etc.. but the time wasted to figure that out isn't worth it to me. Just be consistent with your serving size and you'll be fine.

When I drink mine.. I add the powder/water first.. then the Flax Seed Oil. Shake and drink.

After I'm done I rinse it out and wipe it done with a paper towel. This cleans it up pretty easy and fast.

Another thing to try is just drink the shake and eat a handful of nuts or take a spoon and lick peanut butter off of it.

I've been adding flaxseed or O-3/6/9 oil to my shakes for years now. I blend them the night before and put them in the fridge. All it takes when I need one the next day is to shake it up and drink it. My bottles never have any appreciable residue in them.

A couple of times when I've run out of my usual oil, I've used EV olive oil in my shakes, and I hated how it tasted. Try it, you might like it, but I prefer Barlean's Flax Oil. It's the best tasting oil I've found and has little impact on how my protein powder tastes. It alters the consistency of the shake a bit, but not the taste.

i prefer to lick the pb off the spoon b/c the nuts stick in my teeth then im in the bathroom with a toothpick and floss getting them cleaned out which isnt good when you are doing 3 shakes at work and only have one lunch break.

thats an idea about blending up three at home and putting them in the fridge. however, i put some olive oil in the fridge and it turned to a green solid...does it do this in the shake also?

and one last question...i know many people use flax, but it is hard to find and expensive. is there any advantage to using this over evoo?

thanks again
