View Full Version : alli fat blocker
dunkindonuts June 15th, 2007, 11:44 AM was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this..

Im pretty much at my goal but bought it anyway. What the hell ill try it.
Unfortunately there will be lots of people out there that abuse this. The side effects dont look too pretty.
MannishBoy June 15th, 2007, 11:51 AM Good luck, I hear the side effects are great fun. Anal leakage is great!
Fat is not bad for you. Why block it? It's the type of fats that you need to fix along with portions, then throw in some good exercise.
Also, this is likely to block absorption of some nutrients as well. Lots of vitamins are better absorbed with fat.
The whole concept of this drug is stupid to me even if the side effects weren't nasty.
Read this (http://www.burnthefatblog.com/archives/2007/02/fat_blocker_drug_xenical_goes.php), then this (http://www.newstarget.com/019387.html), and maybe even this (http://www.kentucky.com/181/story/97742.html).
Doubleoqueso June 15th, 2007, 12:08 PM It's just stupid. Pharmaceutical companies are making millions off of the laziness of the masses. People want a great body in a pill. I'm begging my mom to ignore this stuff, but she insists it helps her somehow. I hate these stupid diet pills, they are nothing but a false hope.
The pills come with a "diet and exercise" guide which, if followed, would altogether negate the implied "need" for the stupid pill!
DURR!
Queenie June 15th, 2007, 01:34 PM The "treatment effects" sound absolutely awful. I mean, they say right in their promotional literature that you should wear dark clothes and bring a spare pair of pants to work. How insane is that?
In my never ending search for the magic bullet I did come across this (http://www.artjen.net/faq.html) and it looks much much safer. It supposedly binds the fat in soluble fiber in the stomach, so no side effects. How this is different from, say, oatmeal I don't know.
I doubt I'll try it, but I have to admit I am a little tempted. Alli? Not so much. Someone I know tried that Olestra stuff and had to take a week off from work, I do NOT want to go there, no no no.
Echo June 15th, 2007, 01:52 PM Wouldn't using that also block the absorbtion of EFA's as well? I dunno, I suppose many people will use it as a cruch for poor eating habbits. I've been guilty of that with supplements for years.
Magnaflux June 15th, 2007, 02:30 PM Watching the morning news, I heard a reporter discussing it and how it can cause weight loss of 15 pounds a year.
15 pounds a year....
You know, a correct diet and exercise for 15 weeks will cause 15 pounds in fat loss.
It seems very pointless to me, and certainly not newsworthy.
The anal leakage bit reminds me of the Olestra debacle of the early '00s.
However, the 'no shortcuts' philosophy doesn't sell very well, I'm sure this drug will be popular.
jaydfwtx June 17th, 2007, 12:55 AM The news reports on it here made me wonder why anyone would bother with this. Blocking 25% of fat seems like something you could easily do with a dietary change, rather than suffer the horrible side effects. Besides, this does nothing about your sugar/simple carb intake!
mattback June 18th, 2007, 03:07 AM sometimes over 50% of the calories i eat in a day are from fat.... and my avatar is what i look like.. and i'm not genetically gifted.
JeremyLikness June 18th, 2007, 07:44 AM Another thing you can do is buy super glue and just glue any fatty foods to your plate ... that will pretty much block them for you.

fitnessdave June 20th, 2007, 03:38 PM This stuff is ridiculous. I agree with what everyone else has already said.
TarSeal June 20th, 2007, 04:06 PM The recommended diet from the book includes Hot Pockets. :blank:
