I was just wondering, what are the criteria for becoming a senior member on this site? Is it a certain number of posts? The quality of one's posts? An application process with drug screening? ;)

Cool! Then I guess I've only got 11 posts to go!

I look forward to secret meetings in parking lots at 2am.

Wait, non-senior members aren't supposed to know about the sekrit meetings - someone's been speeking out of school.

You've been posting like crazy, your posts/day ratio has got to be through the roof. You're senior as in "contributes a lot" but not senior as in "has been reading for a long time".

Not that it matters, you're still a nice guy

KT: I still read that as karatekicker. Is that on purpose (e.g. the 'trick') or am I just stupid? :o

:)...
my p/d ratio is hovering around 10... this is what I do, I get really INTO things, and so far this comunitity seems capable of keeping me intrested (although a lot of times its a little... quiet in posts - like right now - thats when I start new threads)

I know I'm a n00b, but I'm over 200 posts, and I think most have been quality...

and don't feel bad, I don't know if its on purpose, but I still see it as karateKicker.

lol bump to that, I still see kicker. In the beginning I wondered if he was smart enough to do it on purpose, but now I realise he isnt :D

Man, what is up with everyone always thinking my name is karateKicker!!

It was not intended to be a "trick". :( I used to practice "extreme" martial arts and the acrobatics kicks we threw were called "tricks" thus making us "trickers". So, when I needed a new AIM screen name way back when, I made it karateTRicker1 (w/o the number was taken).

I've been using it on forums and such ever since...

Oh cool, extreme martial arts are awsome, like 720s and stuff (I can't remember my favorite trick, it was a back flip with legs locked, maybe a half twist in it... - oh wait, I remember, you run, then plant, flip with legs locked and land backwards... sort of kinda like a bio flip on skates)

Doubleleg. It was my favorite trick to throw when I used to compete.

So what's after "Senior Member"? Super Senior? Double-secret Super Senior? (can anyone say "double-secret probation" ;) )

Oh, that one is awesome, can you still do it?
I saw a video of a kid doing it over a stack of century target pads, had to be 4 feet high... awesome.
you ever see that french guy - David Belle?
I saw a great video if him, can't find it right now.

I dunno if I can still do it, probably, but haven't tried in a while.

Yeah, we used to pile up kicking pads and doubleleg over them all the time. My coach could pile them up like 5' high and clear it and he was only like 5'6". Daniel Sterling, look him up, he is the man! :tu:

Not sure who David Belle is offhand, but if he's popular in the sport, I'm sure I've seen or have some videos of him. I have 100s of videos of competitions and the tricks on my computer.

He's not into karate tricks, he's into Parkour
oh man, you got me all into this again damnit!
I used to be in shape, super flexible - I would have been into tricks if there was a "scene" when I was in my teens! (I got really into skating, still think a bio 540 is the coolest thing ever). I'll look him up soon
but how was he your "coach"? did you pay for classes in this or was he just your karate inst. who happened to do tricks?
I remember the first day I found out about karate tricks (from my sister), I was probably a little bigger then I am now - but I didn't realize it, When I got home from work I tried a 540... MAN that hurt!!!

Edit - Looked him up.. .WOW he's got some crazy UPS!!!!

I found a guy who taught "sport karate" (that's what we called it, not extreme MA) and began training with him. He happened to have been very close friends with Daniel and they had trained together since they were kids. Eventually, when I considered myself "good enough" I began training under Daniel. Yes, I paid him to teach my privately twice per week. He is an amazing instructor, you have no idea.

Try training with him... The man is a machine. Ripped as hell too!

Awesome!!!
man, I'm really excited to be in shape again... I love doing tricks of any kind... skating, martial arts, magic, dancing...
I love the feeling when you accomplish a trick for the first time... its the greatest feeling!

I gotta step up my training.
I'm going to work out with my sister at her school over the summer, who knows, maybe by fall I'll be flipping all over the place :)
