i have about enough beverly international muscle mass BCAA's for one more workout, and while cutting seem to think they have worked some...

my question is:

what BCAA's for pre-post workout do you guys like/suggest?

or

should i stick with what i have been using?

while placing my order is there any bulking supps. you may also recommend?

because i am about to start a clean bulk.
already taking fish oil, multi, vit.C

thanks in advance, need to place order asap.!

I don't think it really matters that much. Bulk BCAA's would probably be just fine, but unfortunately, they taste like ass. Xtend doesn't cost that much more, and it actually tastes good....and you get some citrulline malate thrown in just for fun.

Xtend by far. If you are changing gears and moving more towards a lean mass phase then you might not need as much, depending on your diet of course.

Essential Bulking Supplements:
Multivitamin
Protein Powder
Oats
Steak

you forgot milk

And peanut butter, cashews, almonds, etc. :D

I keep meaning to try ICE BCAAs, but haven't done so yet due to the DPS Nutrtion deal where you get both 1000 g of Xtend and 2 lbs of Substance WPI for around $50.

I do like the new Xtend lemonaid flavor. Watermelon is probably my favorite mixed with the Substance watermelon whey. Grape's...OK. Not bad, but I prefer the others.

And yeah, bulk is OK and I can drink it, but for the small difference in price, Xtend tastes much better (even though it still isn't exactly tasty).

I have Dymatize BCAA (http://www.sndcanada.com/gc/gc_item.exe?F=D&K=DY-K434&R=S%2FBCAA&SN=12161348016595126167106&FF=S&FK=BCAA&Z9=0) and it's horrible. I never complain about the taste of supps, but that stuff makes me gag, literally.

Matt, have you tried this one ("http://www.sndcanada.com/gc/gc_item.exe?F=D&K=ON-024&R=S%2FBCAA&SN=12161348016595126167106&FF=S&FK=BCAA&Z9=0')?

When I used to use BCAA during workout, I would use xtend which is a solid product. Being in Canada, I searched around for soemthing cost effective and ended up just buying a bulk "xtend like" formula from the same guys who custom blend my protein. Saves money and works just as well since its minus any brand names.

I use Sci-Fit BCAA 5000 powder....500 gram tub.

Other supps I use..

Uni-Liver dessicated liver tabs..30 grain
GABA
Arginine/Ornithine Combo tabs.
L-Glutamine
Whey Protein Powder.
Acidophilus/Bifidus caps.
Digestive Enzymes
Greens
Multi-Vite
B-complex
Allicin-rich garlic (the odorless garlic is a waste of your money).
Lecithin
Zinc-50mg Citrate
Grapeseed extract
Vitamin C (with bioflavonoids). Without the bioflavonoids in it, your "C" is basically useless.
Calcium Citrate tabs. (The Citrate version absorbs better. Don't bother with Dolomite or Bonemeal.)
Vitamin D3...400 I.U. tabs taken twice a day. (we don't get much sun in the winter around here).
Gingko Biloba..60mg cap...once a day.

Yeah BCAA are great supplements, they might not pack on the size and strength as quickly as creatine and NO, but they're a solid sup. The one I haved used is Prolab BCAA Plus (http://www.illpumpyouup.com/prolab/bcaa-plus.htm), its affortable and it has all the essentials in it.

I'm curious as to what "essentials" BCAA Plus has, other than the three branched chain amino acids.

lol... maybe essentials wasn't the right word... just saying it has leucine, isoleucine, and valine which make up the BCAA.

Could someone explain to me why you want to take a BCAA? I understand what they are but is there a benefit to taking them? What are the results? Have you gotten good result from them? Also, when is the right time to take them? During a workout, before, after?

Thanks.

Thanks Gorilla! I think I'll save my money. I'm doing pretty well without BCAA's but I thought if they helped with something specific, i better check 'em out. My goal is fat loss right now and I get plenty of protein so I'll wait on if I need BCAA's later. Thanks again!

If you want to hear Layne Norton discussing them (natural bodybuilder and research biochemist), download and listen to this podcast. (http://www.superhumanradio.com/rss/SHR_Show_02252006.mp3)

(You'll also hear some creatine discussion in the second half).

BCAA's help aid in fat loss.. When you ingest them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach they tell your body you have eaten something and fire up the furnace so to speak, you burn fat in this fasted state.. They also give killer pumps.. I have done my best work in the gym while using them..

I have had several friends try amino's without any diet changes and they have all gotten leaner measured by calipers..

I like the Xtreme Formulations version.. it has changed slightly over the years.. It used to have B6 and 10 grams of protein, however it no longer does.. Optimum Nutritiions Amino 2222 is something I use in combination with it too.. Pre and post workout, immediately upon rising and right before bed ..

Oh yeah, first time poster, but been reading for the last few days... I am a member of many different bodybuilding forums on the net.. most of them are dedicated to drugs and heavy supplement use.. I found this site using a search engine for something and have enjoyed the mature atmosphere and non drug related information..
I hope to be an addition to this forum and also look forward to reaching my own goals i set for 2008..

peace and love
