I am 6'1", and currently 188 lbs.

My current diet is 30/30/40 (f/c/p), 2000 calories a day.

For the past two weeks I've been stuck around this weight.. I am doing a full body weight lifting workout three times a week.

I really want to shed the fat off so I can actually see my muscles and enjoy watching them grow.

Do I need to restrict calories more, or change my ratio of macronutrients?

I'm going to be starting Darden's "New HIT" program soon but read that he recommends a 20/60/20 diet of 1500 cals.

That seems like a lot of carbs and runs counter to what I have read about how to lose weight.

I am confused, not sure what to do and a little disappointed with my weight loss so far.

My goal is 165lbs, at which point I'll begin a 'bulking' diet.

Hopefully you all can help me!

Many of us don't like HIT or Darden around here. Some of us do.

In my opinion, I wouldn't follow his nutritional advice. As you saw in my other posts that you replied to, I believe a higher protein diet is a good approach. 1500-2000 cals/day should get you where you want to be, although I would only do 1500 on off days.

Are you doing any cardio? I'd suggest some HIIT on non-lifting days, and some light cardio after each lifting session.

before I started lifting I did LISS four days a week for many months.. and three days a week for a good year before moving to four days.. then for a while i did two days lifting, two days of HIIT/LISS.. now I just lift three days a week without any cardio.

Thanks Squash.

Adding more calories seems counterintuitive to me.. but I'll keep it in mind if things don't change in a week or so..

I'm also starting to contemplate doing a low carb diet.. I did Atkins a few years ago with modest results but wasn't lifting at all back then..
