View Full Version : Lisa sounds sadistic!

I love my wife to death, but if she doing this kind of stuff from todays update (snacking loudly on food around me) if she knew:

a) My cravings are very intense
b) My personal developmental goals (and perhaps future livelihood depends on not eating that crap)
c) I'm almost done reaching those goals, just a few days or weeks ago

I'd be UPSET. That is rude!

I'm not judging Lisa, just imagining myself in that situation you described I'd be pretty upset at my wife! At the very least I'd leave and go do something else.

You have good willpower John, I don't envy you "having" to live with someone who doesn't share your fitness goals / eating clean lifestyle. I say "having" in quotes because you have said many many times how much you love her and can't imaging living without her. So I know it's not a big burden or anything.

But, as per my title, she sounds almost sadistic with the smirking! Like she's trying to tempt you into cheating.

Haha! I have similar issues with everyone eating junk around me, I used to debate it in my head so much whether or not to have a cheat meal, now it's not really an option, I couldn't care less :D

That is hardly rude.

It is John's choice to do what he does. I'm sure that Lisa supports him in a thousand other ways you don't hear about in the daily update. Enduring a bowl of snack mix during a movie, while tempting to be sure, is a small price to pay for such a lofty goal. Don't you think?

Don't blow a bowl of Chex Mix out of proportion.

My comments are meant in fun and should be taken lightheartedly. I was using mock drama to heighten the humor. This is the second thread you've started in the past week where I'm afraid you've completely misinterpreted my daily updates. Maybe I'm not communicating clearly, I dunno....

Anyway, Lisa is about as far from sadistic as a person can get. She's totally supportive of my goals, and always has been. If I asked her to not eat snacks in front of me, I'm sure she would. But I would never ask her to do that--this is her home, too, and what I'm doing is my choice and has nothing to do with her.

Temptations are everywhere. The bottom line is if someone is looking for an excuse to go off diet, then he or she will have no problem finding one. Conversely, someone who is dedicated and focused on a goal can handle any temptation.

BTW, her "smirk" was actually directed towards herself for being so foolish as to actually think--if only for a moment--that I was about to break my diet. She knows better, but I had her going for a second or two.

As much fun as that might sound, I have to agree.

It must be me! In this case my comments were also meant to be a bit lighthearted.

Your quote above is true wisdom. You really should be collecting these things for a future book -- I'd buy it.
