View Full Version : First cut/HIIT
Incremental May 20th, 2007, 07:14 PM I've already spent four months losing weight, then six bulking(Not too well, adjusting to new diet etc.) and now I want to cut out the podgy feel here and there before summer, basically, my plan looks like this:
Monday:Upperbody - 20min medium cardio cooldown
Tue: Lower - 20min cardio cooldown
Wed: HIIT
Thur: Upperbody - 20min medium cardio cooldown
Fri: Lower - 20min cardio cooldown
Sat: HIIT
Sun: HIIT
I didn't plan on doing so much HIIT, but been looking at the training logs on here.
This is for another two weeks, before I go away for a week and come back to bulk.
My diet is aiming to be a slight defeceit(1lbs a week loss) and with caffeine(400mg, split into two servings)
Comments ?
zipeee May 25th, 2007, 07:55 AM Your Split looks about right. Just watch your calories. Should be your weight in lbs. x 10-12 to lose what you want. Caffeine by itself won't do much unless you add ephedrine, and I don't know if you want to do that. Plus if it interferes with you getting enough sleep, it can sabotage your fat loss.

You may want to schedule in a rest day, or light cardio for one of the HIIT days. Since you're on a calorie deficit, you may start to feel a little lethargic and burned out. Try it out, but it might be a little much.
Also, you only plan to cut 2 lbs?
Incremental May 25th, 2007, 04:51 PM When you put it like that, but it's "another" 2lbs, atleast... I'm hoping for 1lbs as a min. I've been cutting for four weeks or so thus far.
I've not got too much I need to lose to flatten my stomach anyways.
I've taken today as a rest day, I tried HIIT after my lowerbody yesterday(Bad Idea, I guess?) so my quads are achey.
SwoleCat May 25th, 2007, 09:33 PM Is there any weight training being done, or did I totally miss that?
HIIT isn't my gig, but if it works for you then that's all that matters. I was just curious as to where the weight training comes in as that is a big part of attaining a body composition change for the better.

Incremental May 26th, 2007, 08:09 AM Weight training is just my bulking routine, with lower weights and 60s rests, with an extended cooldown at the end.
What I'm doing now really seems to be working, I'm down from 176 to 171.8lbs in ~4 weeks.
Incremental May 26th, 2007, 08:15 AM 7:20 - 75g oats - 20g whey/milk - 500kcal
10:30 - Tuna sandwhich + nuts - 400kcal
13:00 - Tuna sandwhich + nuts - 400kcal
15:00 - Tuna sandwhich + nuts - 400kcal
17:00 - workout
18:00 - 30g whey + bannana - 200kcal
19:00 - Turkey steak + veg + olive oil = 450kcal
21:30 - 150g cottage cheese - 170kcal
That's roughly my diet, I'm not so good at counting fats in to calorie counts but, there it is ...
SwoleCat May 26th, 2007, 01:09 PM Weight training is ONLY in your bulking routine?
Hmmm, never heard of that before.
I'd be scared sh*tless to cut and diet and do cardio w/out resistance training as the loss of lean mass would be a guarantee, thus nullifying the entire point of bulking in the first place.

Incremental May 26th, 2007, 03:02 PM Heh, no... See at the top I put my schedule, with upper/lower for certain days ;) And I mean, the weight routine I'm doing now is the one I was doing for bulking, but lighter weights and short rest periods.
I've not been able to bulk properly anyways so far, I've come from being overweight. But I plan to in three weeks.
SwoleCat May 26th, 2007, 04:16 PM Ahhh, okay I see, good to hear. :)
