Like the title says, I've lost two lbs overnight. Nothing has changed. My diet is still the same an example for instance:

7:30 a.m. 1 cup Kashi Go lean crunch with 1/2 cup skim milk

10:00 a.m 1 Oatmeal to go by quaker and an apple

12:30 p.m. 8 oz. chicken breast with small salad
3 Tblsp. of vinagrette dressing
1/2 cup lowfat cottege cheese
1 Navel orange

3:30 p.m. 200 grams strawberries
1 Jell-O sugar free pudding snack

6:30 p.m. 1 Meatless chicken patty
1 whole wheat bun
2 cups broccoli (steamed)
1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese

9:30 p.m protein shake or can of tuna in water

This obviously is not my everyday diet but it's a pretty good representation. I've been drinking at least a gallon of water a day and my caloric intake has not changed drastically in the past month. I've been doing HIIT cardio every other day and I've got to admit I feel better on the days I do it. Anyway, doing all of this has allowed me to steadily lose 2 to 2.5 lbs a week for the last 4 weeks. This morning I wake up and I'm 2.6 lbs. lighter than I was 24 hrs ago. What happened? I keep telling myself maybe it's just a fluke but I've recorded my weight and what I've eaten everyday for the last 30 days and I've never seen the scale do this. I measure myself at the same time everyday and I have never had numbers with this big of a discrepency. Did my metabolism go into overdrive or have others experienced this? I also wanted to get some input on the diet. Do there need to be any adjustments made? I'm shooting for the 20 fat/30 protein/50 carb ratio. In a couple of weeks I'll finally have the weight training equipment paid off. Man I can't wait to start lifting again. Thanks for looking.

This is normal. Everyone loses weight overnight by expelling water vapor through respiration. You should weigh yourself at the same time, usually just when you wake up after you pee. However, don't weigh yourself everyday, or you will end up posting questions like this all the time.

Maybe I should have clarified that a little better. I measure myself every morning at the same time after I pee. I don't think I'll ever stop measuring everyday. I enjoy seeing the fluctuations high or low and I really like being able to record them in my logs and compare the daily weight recordings to my diet. This way I can tell how my diet is affecting my weight. Incidentally the logs I use are the Excell one's I downloaded from JSF. Regardless, I am still curious as to why I dropped 2.6 lbs overnight when I've never before had a fluctuation up or down over 1 lb.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Could be water weight or a large bowel movement. I would be more concerned with a large drop in weight over a week's time (10lbs, for example).

Good point. I guess I'll just chalk it up to getting lucky this week and being even closer to my weight loss goal :D. What about the diet? Does it look even remotely close to what it needs to be to lose weight?

I weigh myself every day. Two pounds up or down isn't so very unusual. It'll probably be back tomorrow.

Check and make sure you still have both of your kidneys. Especially if you woke up in an ice-filled bathtub.

Well, the less you eat, and the more recently you started cutting calories, the more likely you are to see big fluctuations. I know when I was trying to lose weight a few years ago, I was eating 1200-1500 calories a day, which is very few since I'm 6' 1''. So I have a few days where I would drop 2, 3 pounds, but it would fluctuate. I would expect you'll probably go up a bit from there in a day or two. Like they said above, daily weigh-ins mean almost nothing by themselves, but I've always done it because it forms a bigger picture.

ever wonder why you piss when you wake up in the mornings? your body breaks down glycogen to glucose in order for CNS use... the byproduct is water, hence, why you pee in the morning. this could contribute to the weight loss. also, scale inaccuracies are common among home scales

Yeah as TB says its a recipe for insanity, for instance this week all my measurements went down but I'm up 1.6 pounds :bang: /shrug

Thanks for the responses guys. Well I checked and both kidneys are still there :tu:. The next day (Saturday) I gained about 1/2 a pound back but then Sunday lost a 1/4 pound and this morning I've dropped below the initial 2 pound loss. All in all, I've lost about 12 lbs. in 5 weeks. So far so good.
