I do my cardio on a stationary bike for 45 min at 20-23mph at level 4 intensity(70-85% THR). Fitday says I burn 685 cals. The bike said I burned 1050 cals. I think I burn much less cals than either of those amounts because burning 600 cals in 45 minutes just doesnt sound right. What do you guys think?

You burned less. I'd take a rough guess and say around 400.

yeah, i was talking to a nutritionist about this about a month ago. during the winter i used a treadmill for 40-45 minutes at about 7 minute miles. the readout always showed around 750-800 cals burned. nutritionist said that its going to be more in the 250-400 calorie range for that amt of time, depending on the intensity. from talking to others, alot of cardio equip. has similarly high readouts for cals burned. dont know why.

Here's a pretty accurate calculator: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html

Those monitors on cardio machines are notoriously inaccurate.

I have a treadmill that you enter your age and weight into, and then it receives the signal from the Polar heart rate monitor strap thingy. I go for an hour for between 3.5 and 4.0 miles per house. I'm a 27 year old dude, 6'1" and 233 pounds. it usually says I burn around 600 calories. that website posted by AMR said that was accurate. I'm glad :)

According to http://www.fitresource.com/Fitness/CalBurn.htm, the bike is accurate (assuming you're between 125-150 lbs. I have no reason to doubt that site, as the numbers it has provided me have proven fairly accurate when tracking my weight loss through calorie deficit as well as the scale.
