I was wondering how you deal with people who think they know stuff but they don't. For example, my friend saw me doing bentover rows and told me that it's bad for your back. I said it's for your back and asked him why it's bad for you. He couldn't explain it. Today he saw that I had creatine and told me that it's bad for you. I asked him, why is it bad for you. He just told me that this guy he knows took creatine, got huge, went off it, then got skinny. I know this is not true because creatine is not a drug but a supplement. He says he'll pay me to stop taking it and then just told me to take only whey.... He told me to lift naturally... Creatine isn't natural??? What the freak is he talking about??? Honestly, I don't really care because I'm a creatine non-responder. I'm only using it because I bought a tub to try it. Once I'm out, I'll probably never buy it again. Anyways, how do you deal with these people? When I explain stuff to them, they just get ignorant and say they're right.

If creatine wasn't naturally occuring or natural it wouldn't be allowed in the pro natural body building, olympics, and major league sports.

It's ok. we all love you on here :)

when you start getting results and he is still stuck in the same area as he was when you started, maybe he'll realize you're no idiot

Just tell him thanks for looking out, and go about your business. If he just gets ignorant when you try to explain to him, I can't imagine you'll easily be able to convince him to dash his beliefs. It might be kind of mean, but save yourself the trouble of trying to convince him, and just tell him you appreciate his advice.

Can't do that result thing for awhile mainly because his physique is better than mine. But then again, his genetics are superior than mine. He's a naturally lean guy who can eat anything in any amount all freakin day. Seriously, his metabolism is like someone with a tape worm inside him. The guy loves to go lifting with his friends. But his ignorance is the main reason I don't like going lifting with him. Only thing he does is 3x10 of Bench, bicep curl, and tricep extensions, and once in awhile squats, and then goes do a ton of ab work. And he thinks he's doing everything right. And when he saw me other day doing 10x3 of squats, he said you'll hurt yourself like that.... Annoys the hell out of me.

Where do you think idioms such as "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" come from?

I probably would just go about my business and not worry about them admitting that they might be wrong about something.

If it got to the point where his attitude was affecting my workout, I would choose not to workout with this individual. That doesn't mean you can't be friends with him, just that there are some scenarios where you're better off away from each other.

I have several friends that I could probably never go to the gym with, but enjoy doing other things with them.

He's one of my closest friends. Probably one of the best friend a guy could ask for. But the weird thing is, we have almost completely different personalities. Last couple times we went to the gym, I just did my own thing and he did his with other friend. Hope that doesn't tick him off but I have a goal to achieve so I must make everything as perfect as possible. (152lbs by June 19th. I realized I got too fat these days:o)

Quite a difficult situation. Try to point him in the direction of some articles about Creatine OR you could just tell him what you wrote right here about the face that YOU have a goal to achieve :claplow:

Don't mind him. If he benches heavy without any rowing (as you describe) then he's heading for trouble.

Stick to a sensible program and you will make your progress. He will make his progress. I would bet that in time, you will prefer your results.

AWESOME. Stop taking it and have him pay you. Then take the profit and buy Protein, BCAA'S, Chicken, Flax, a dipping belt, your gym membership, steak, eggs, yams...:tu:

tell your friend to prove that he is right. tell him you need physical proof! he'll spend so much time looking for something to tell him he's right you will surpass his physique!

chris- What I think you need to do is prove him wrong. Go along with what you're doing, but make sure that whatever you're doing, you are busting ass in the gym. All the creatine and hypertrophy programs in the world mean shit if you're only giving 90% in the gym. You really need to push yourself, and then push yourself some more. This friend of yours will be impressed with your dedication and determination. Prove HIM wrong.
