I bought a bottle of "Muscle Milk" today from the nearby 7-11 (convenience store) for the first time. It turned out to be the most vile thing i've ever drank in my entire life and i'm still sitting here 30 minutes later wondering if i'm going to vomit. I seriously sat in the bathroom waiting for it to come back up for 15 minutes. It has by FAR the worst after taste i've ever had from any shake and just thinking about it is making me gag. never again. :nope:

I've never treid the stuff, so I don't know. Perhaps it was past it expiration date.

I don't know if 7-11 is the place to buy supplements anyhow. :)

First time I drank a protein shake it was unflavoured....and for the record I did throw up. Buy the flavored stuff much more tasty.

If you find chocolate muscle milk not tasty, then you should just give up now....

muscle milk is the best tasting stuff by far... 18g of fat per serving might have a little to do with it!! but it's awesome stuff.

omg

chocolate milk
chocolate mint
cookies and cream

basically, i can't have muscle milk while i cut.. because it always turns into a bulk because i cant stop eating the stuff. hahahaha. all of the time.. with nonfat organic milk. omg.

want nasty? ON Pro-Complex chocolate with room temperature water. lol.

When I first tried a protein shake, it tasted really bad like breast milk. But I later tried a chocolate flavored ON whey protein. It didn't taste too bad. What i'm trying to say is that you'll eventually find a protein shake you like.

ON 100% Whey in strawberry flavour tastes like ass. When I first tried it, I took 2 sips, poured it down the sink and reached for the Nitrean.

I've never had breast milk after growing up. Next time I drink my shakes, I'll remember that it tastes like breast milk. :D

I can't remember what breast milk tastes like, but I imagine that it sux.

Why would you imagine that? If it tasted bad, babies wouldn't drink it, don't you think? Furthermore, not all breast milk tastes the same. The flavor depends on the foods that the mother eats, how much and how strenuously she exercises and whether or not she smokes (which, of course, she shouldn't). It is said that babies that are breastfed are more likely than formula-reared babies to accept new flavors once they start eating solids because of this. In other words, the kid will likely not turn out to be a picky eater.

Sorry, I don't mean to derail this thread, but the statement just prompted me to respond.

I love the pre-mixed Chocolate Mint Muscle Milk.. it does have a bit too much fat, but it's nice every once in a while. I think the best-tasting, most-nutritional all around protein powder I've tried so far is definitely ON Pro Complex blend.. it's nice and smooth, mixes perfectly, and has a slight, almost cinnamon-tasting kick to it that makes it surprisingly easy to stick with.

I hate to say it, but the powder I like the least is AtLarge's Nitrean blend.. I know they're pretty popular around here, but it just tastes really off to me.. almost like spoiled dairy. I don't know what I'm going to do with this 4.6lb jug now.. :(

I normally drink this GNC stuff that i got - i forget the name, all i remember is that it's in a red package. I like the cookies 'n' cream flavor and i'm currently trying chocolate (which i'm not that big of a fan of) and really those aren't that bad. all i know is: i was sick for a good hour after drinking that muscle milk yesterday and, 40g of protein or not, i won't be drinking it again. I'd rather have 2 shakes of the GNC stuff.

oh, and i always buy the smallest package first to make sure i like it before buying one of those jugs :)

Yeah, it had probably expired.. when I buy Muscle Milk from the local Vitamin Shoppe it tastes fine, but when I tried a Cookies'n'Cream once from a Meijer's (big stupid Walmart-type store), it was all lumpy. The taste was technically fine, but it was way too unpleasant to drink. D:

Either, 1) The Muscle Milk went bad OR 2) Your taste buds are fucked up cuz Muscle Milk is one of few good tasting premaid protein shakes. The other being Lean Body. Id rather be sodomized by belt sander than drink an EAS premaid product. Well maybe not, but you get my point.....

BTW, Lean body has less fat than Muscle Milk, only 9 carbs, and ZERO sugar if your cutting and looking for something on quick while you are on the go.

Best tasting protein shake in the world hands down is Beverly International ... I love Ultra Size but that is more of a meal replacement, Muscle Provider is their protein shake.

I've tasted everything over the past decade from Optimum to Met-Rx, EAS, Muscle Milk, you name it, and nothing comes close.

Wow, what on earth did your drink?

Here is what I recommend and I can promise you won't regret it. While some people aren't for GNC stuff, go to GNC and buy a small jug of the chocolate caramel protein powder. Should go for around $30. The stuff in the jugs tends to be granulated a bit better than the bags and desolves very well. I don't know WHAT you drank, but try what I recommended if you want to actually have some of the stuff. It DOES help, and it actually tastes pretty decent! Seriously!

Maybe what you had really did go bad?

Could just be getting used to it.

Muscle milk is lactose-free and tastes like lactose-free/soy milk. If you aren't used to it, especially if you have been avoiding sweets for a while, it can be so sweet it will make you want to throw up. The first time I tried cookies and cream I was sick for hours despite it being chilled and within the exp. date. To this day I still won't drink it.

Try the chocolate and vanilla flavors, they aren't nearly as sweet.

If you still don't like it go for a myoplex. They taste good, have a good consistency, and are not too sweet (more like dark chocolate vs. milk chocolate).

Be warned: I have yet to meet anyone who likes strawberry in anything.

long time ago i had the GNC Challenge 95. Challenge (i think it was called) was the sport line prior to pro performance. it was unflavored, soy protein. i was 14, and i threw up. every time i would try to put one down i threw up in my mouth, never got used to it.

Anyone complaining about taste of protein powders today has no clue what the old-timers went through...I can remember when the only powders were milk & egg protein (or soy), and it tasted like lifting chalk. Came in three flavors (at most) - vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. ZERO difference in taste - you couldn't blind taste test one from the other - so it may be more accurate to say it came in three colors. Nice thing was, if you made it through that, you could eat anything - liver, steak-and-milk-shake in a blender, tuna shake. My dad was so old school he was still looking for the old tire-rubber chocolate Power Bars even after they came out with new flavors (and more chewable composition).

I think also u can have a Protein Bar instead of a Whey Protein Shake. Such as Pure Protein Brand which has very Little Sugars. Tho U might need 2 protein Bars to match the WHey Protein SHake

yeah but most bars are high in sat. fat and full of lower quality proteins. i would go with a shake over a bar if possible.

it may have, and it sounds like it did from what i've read here. i never though to check the expiration date and i'm guessing those aren't restocked regularly. i actually am using that GNC stuff you are talking about now, i've had the cookies & cream version and now i'm working on the chocolate caramel. i have yet to decide which i like better, i think i might slightly favor cookies & cream. another interesting thing - every shake that i've tried has tasted better in subsequent tries...

its reasons like this that remind me not to live in the past

although... i have been wanting to try eating a raw egg... think its a good idea?
