Hey guys,

I am a couple of weeks into the program and have learned heaps from you all by reading the various threads.

I am the classic skinny fat guy (was 165lbs @ 16.5% body fat)

Here are a few of the things I have picked up, hopefully it can help some of you:

1. I am actually eating more and losing weight!! I used to have a huge lunch, no b'fast and crave carbs when I got home and then have dinner!

2. Having more protecin makes a huge difference in how you feel and helps to reduce cravings

3. Drinking more water makes you feel so much more awake and alert

4. Weight training helps keep your strength and importantly breaks up the monotony of the cardio and diet

5. The 'habit" of eating well and exercsing is starting to take hols and is not as hard

6. I am saving money by not constantly buying snacks and lunch at the food court

So far I am 5lbs down (10 or a bit more to go) and my pants feel a little looser

Hope you all have a good weekend

Sweet... I got started 2.57 weeks ago as well. I'm with you on all of the above, with the exception that I'm actually spending more on food now. I'm not really watching the scale so much, but then I'm looking to get rid of 50 instead of 15. I'm starting to see a little difference too, though.

Good luck......

I actually find that weighing myself each day helped with the motivation as I know the consequences of a "cheat" will show itself immediately. I never knew the impact of salt was so dramatic. I love not being bloated so consistently!!

Good luck yourslef, let us all know how you get on. I had grand plans of being down at 150lbs by the end of may. i now know that that was unrealistic, so if I can be in the mid 150's by that stage I will be happy.

Ditto what you said in your earlier post, it's been an amazing life change already, I already can't imagine skipping breakfast like I did for years. I got up to 176 lbs or so before realizing I really needed to lose the gut. This week (my fourth) has been more "stable" on the scale, but I tightened my belt a notch and am seriously thinking about new (smaller) pants.

Salt was my death as well, it was amazing to watch 3lbs come on within 36 hours of a late night popcorn fest, same with some of the jerky I ate but that's in the off topic section post (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=36532) I made tonight and I won't regurgitate it.

My timing was the same, I am confident I can get down to 160 by the end of May. I'd like to see my abs this summer by 4th of July or August anyway.....

Keep it up.

Congrats.

I'm at just over 5 weeks since I said "OK, that's it." and surprised myself a bit today by making about 9 pounds total. I didn't expect to see downward movement because yesterday was a "bigger eating" day including a bag of jerky - I expected the scale to nudge up due to the salt. Instead it managed to plunge through the 7# "floor" I'd been at for 2-3 weeks. I made the first 5 pounds easy, then had a day where it dipped to 7, then floundered between 5-7 before now finally dipping below.

I've got a ways to go yet - another 20-30 pounds.

Boy does that sound better to say than 30-40. :D
