Ok so as you may or may not know i'm 16 and have recently changed my eating habbits, my question is I want to buy some dumbells but i'm not sure what weight to buy, or how many to do in the morning and at night? Anyone have any advice?

A good start would be to buy one of those interchangeable 40 lb dumbbell set. You can go from 5lb - 20lb for pretty cheap.
You can then do a range of dumbbell exercises with them and the advice generally given is to do 8-10 reps while maintaining perfect form.

Well that depends how much you can lift? Are you a big guy or a small guy?
Or you even join a gym :) I don't know

A 20 lb dumbell won't last long, there are only a few exercises to use 20lbs with. First check your school and its gym, a YMCA, a commerical gym. Cost?
Then check relatives, friends, Newpaper ads, some spring cleaning garage sales. Cost? It wouldn't be overkill to have Barbell, Dumbbells, and about 200 + lbs of weights. An Adjustable bench with weight stands or a separate cage. See why gym is prime choice?
Guys, you are all stronger than you think you are. You have legs that have been carrying you around for years. Don't sell yourself short, the teen years is the time to build the frame for a lifetime.:tucool:

Here's another thing you could do.
Don't buy any dumbells right now.. Save up your money and get a half-decent bench, barbell, weights and dumbells.
In the meantime go to a second hand store and pick up 3 different size balls. Ones that you can fill with sand or fine gravel.
Make one that weighs 10lbs. one that weighs 20 and one that weighs thirty.
You now have a home gym for circuit training. You can do anything with these that a guy with weights can do.
Except you can do it a hell of a lot faster because you don't have to change weights.
If you think circuit training is easy wait til your on your 4th giant set at top speed, no rest between exes.
By the time you're done with these you'll probably have saved up enough dough for weights.:)

Thanks guys! Hmmm...well i'm not really sure what to do now haha, I was gonna buy a 10KG dumbell and work both my arms with that. While doing crunches and maybe a few pushups. Possibly some squats to. That sound good?

To be honest, not really. I would look to join a gym in your local area :)
