I guess now is as good a time as any to say hello to everyone here.
I've been lurking for a while, and have found more information in the past 2 weeks than I have ever received over the past 10 years. I've also found more motivation on this site than I was ever able to give my self before. I had attempted to lose a couple times in the past, but alwyas gave up after a month or two. One time wasn't entirely my fault, I had an appendectomy and after I recovered I didn't have any desire to start lifting again. All the pictures I've seen on this site, of everyone's successes, has given me the inspiration to take charge of my life and turn things around.
I never exactly learned how to eat right growing up. My mother has always wanted to be the mother type, and would usually cook food...and give us rather large portions.
A week ago I started getting back into shape. I am eating better than I ever have before, and am losing weight. I started at 6'4", 320lbs. While it sounds like a lot, I also have a lot of lean body mass. According to some of these body fat calculators that go by tape measurements, I have somewhere between 29% and 31% BF. I've managed to lose my first couple pounds, which is a slight motivation. As of right now, I'm only able to do cardio in the morning. I'm in the last couple weeks of this semester at school and quite litterally don't have time to hit a gym. As soon as this semester ends, I'm getting a membership, and will get back to lifting. My goal is to lose 70lbs by Christmas. I think this time, now that I understand more about proper nutrition, and the inspiration I have from seeing everyone's success, I'll make it.
Also, than you to everyone who has contributed to this site. It gives us who haven't known better a fantastic resource to better our selves.
