View Full Version : Chipotle - Good or bad - if careful
Edub05 Sat, April 14th, 2007, 06:06 PM I know a typical Chipotle burrito is high in calories but if one were to be selective about what goes into the burrito or even opted to go with a burrito bowl would it be ok?
Here is what I propose:
Fajita burrito bowl with chicken
Black beans
Whichever salsa
a touch of guacamole
lettuce
I have no idea what the nutritional values would be as I cannot find any info on their website but is it at least sensible?
If I should just avoid at all costs then I will but I'd like not to. :D
Lets discuss.
Thanks,
-E

IT can be okay if you are careful with it. Go search chipotle nutrition info on google and you can find a site that you can get calories from depending on what you put in it! My typical burrito is around 1300 calories...
Big_D Sat, April 14th, 2007, 06:20 PM If I'm eating Q'doba or Chipotle, I make sure it is after a workout or something, so I can put all those calories to use.
M@ Sat, April 14th, 2007, 07:10 PM There's actually a site dedicated to figuring this out: ChipotleFan.com (http://www.chipotlefan.com/index.php?id=nutrition_calculator)
The link goes to their nutrition calculator. :tu:
I love Chipotlé burritos and will sneak one in occasionally as a cheat meal. Making a burrito bowl with salsa, meat, beans, and veggies can be every bit as healthy as one of my on-program meals but the cost is excessive when I could make an equivalent from fresh ingredients store-bought. Still, it's good to have around in a pinch.
Edub05 Sun, April 15th, 2007, 01:09 PM Looks like the thing to do is eat half. There is also a petition asking them to offer smaller burritos.
Wow they have lots of sodium!
Thanks for the link/info guys.

Freshdirect Sun, April 15th, 2007, 01:46 PM yea, each burrito has like enough sodium for two days. and they can be up to 1300 calories or so.
the tortilla itself is 300 calories.

Another link to their nutritional info. I think they're opening one about a mile from my house. I've never been there, but I'll probably give it a try when they open.
Dubrock Sun, April 15th, 2007, 09:05 PM If I'm in a pinch it's my fast food place of choice. I usually get their salads though.
FreePrince Mon, November 2nd, 2009, 06:55 PM what amazes me is how so much fat can be loaded into a tortilla.

modmaven Mon, November 2nd, 2009, 08:30 PM That is shocking! One burrito, 1300 calories.
I have a chipotle's weakness -- but I stick to the salad or the burrito bowl with chicken, black beans, a couple of the salsas, the corn relish, and a wee bit of cheese. and the salad dressing.
So I guess that's only 900 calories.
Okay, maybe 500?
caraway Mon, November 2nd, 2009, 09:51 PM I don't see what's wrong with it at all. Personally, I think it is overkill to load your burrito with all three of cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Pick one (preferably guac) and your burrito comes in at about 900-950 cals with 47% carbs / 21% protein / 35% fat (with alot of that fat coming from healthy avocados). And if you're anything like me, you don't even need to finish the whole thing to be full.
Now, i'd never eat it on a cut, but yeah I plan on eating the occasional burrito when I start bulking. In fact, if it wasn't for the low-quality vegetable oil, i'd go so far as to call a chicken burrito healthy. Most people don't get enough beans/legumes.
