I can't seem to find steel-cut at the store too often, so I end up buying Scottish oatmeal. It seems to be the same, just maybe a bit more porridgy (I know, not really a word).
Anyone know if there is a drastic difference in nutrient value, quality, etc.....???
Thanks

I don't know if they're exactly the same thing, or slightly different sized bits. There is no difference in nutrient value (carbs, fat, protein, fibre, calories, vitamins, minerals, etc.) There might possibly be a very slight difference in glycemic index, but it would not be significant.

They are the same thing, depending on who you get it from. Some have par-cooked and cracked oats, some have steel cut. The one in the steel can is true steel cut though. Whole foods and a number of other stores have steel cut oats in the bulk food isles.
