I am not sure which forum to post this in but I just got a new blender which is ideal for mixing protein shakes, etc.

KitchenAid KSB560MC 5-Speed Blender with Polycarbonate Jar (http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KSB560MC-5-Speed-Polycarbonate-Metallic/dp/B000CSRKI0/ref=sr_1_19/102-5245962-7268147?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1176151576&sr=8-19)

I usually am pretty snobby about kitchen appliances, always wanting, Krups, Cuisinart, Braun and the like. I've never owned a Kitchenaid product in my life. But after researching on Amazon, it was really clear that for a relatively inexpensive blender this was the best. So I bought American...

These are the features I like:

1. buttons are flush with stand -- easy to clean

2. Jar is a one piece Polycarbonate with the blade intact -- no taking apart and GOES in the dishwasher.

3. Has ice crusher button. Slip in your ice cubes push the ice crusher button and the blender automatically does the pulsating.

Downside:

1. Container HUGE 55 oz, takes forever to rinse out!

2. Though it has this initial "slow start" to every speed to avoid shooting the liquid up to the top, it does it anyway.

3. My friend's blender (see below) made everything taste very creamy. This one makes everything taste very frothy -- i.e., a lot of air. I would prefer the "creamy" texture. His is a 20 year old KitchenAid

I have never been big on blenders as I never used them for cooking. I have been using the Braun MR430HC/AC Multiquick Deluxe Hand Blender & Chopper
(http://www.amazon.com/Braun-MR430HC-Multiquick-Blender-Chopper/dp/B00004S9GX/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-5245962-7268147?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1176152284&sr=8-2) which I keep conveniently installed in its holder by the sink. But I use ground steel cut oats in my PWO and they always sank to the bottom and it was a little tough for me to drink -- a little heavy.

I was at my friend's and used his blender after my workout and I was amazed how that thing pulverized the oats and dispersed them throughout the drink. So I researched and ordered the above blender. I haven't tried it yet for the PWO. I will tonight.
