I have been weight training since i was in middle school. (i know your not suppose to) Anyway, i never really learned how to explode into a rep. I am happy with my results but i would like to learn how to explode and really push some weight especially on the bench and powerlifts. I am kind of lanky and always do full reps 8-10 i thought trying to shorten the range of motion a little might help. Any suggestions on how to train to be more explosive?

No problem there.

Lower the weight under control and then just maximally accelerate through the concentric. This means that you increase the force through the rep until you're momentarily applying 1-RM force to it. You'll need to decelerate the weight at the top of the motion, however, or use a variation where this is not needed e.g. push press, jump squat, Olympic pull, etc. If the weight is too light, it will move very fast and you will lose control of it and it will be hard to decelerate safely. As such, make sure you only use this method with a weight that is heavy enough -- 80-100% of your 1-RM is a good range for most people. It's also a good idea to "leave some in the tank" by not going to failure and terminating the set between your bar speed falls too greatly on account of fatigue and motor exhaustion.
