Hello everyone. I am new here as of today. A week ago I first found John's site trhough a freind, and I tell you what, I was inspired...

I've a big dude, 6'2" 390lbs and only 26 years of age. I have allways been pretty big, but have found as i get older, i just keep getting bigger. It was time to do something. Now to my "question."

I put together a diet that if anyone could give me some input on would be great...

Morning:
1 bowl of raisin bran crunch with Fat Free Milk...
Later on 1 banana
A little later, 2 hard boiled egg whites and 2 pieces of Whole Wheat Bread..
Afternoon:
Basic salid of romane lettuce with a can of tuna and fat free dressing
1 Detour Whey Protien Bar
Dinner:
Either a single lean cut steak or 5 lean chicken tenders cooked without butter and greenbeans
Before Bed:
1/2 cup of fat free milk

And there it is... please if anyone can give me some suggestions on this one it would help greatly.

Also, I'm tring to put together an exercise program... I'm thinking my main focus should be cardio (ie walk one heck of a lot) Would this be a good start, of should I do more along with it to really kick the weightloss off??

Thanks your anyones help,
Matt

Check out this site..www.fitday.com....write down all the foods you listed for the day and it'll calculate fairly accurately what kind of nutrient ratios your getting...if it is around 40p/40c/20f your about on the money for most cutting diets.

Also, what exercise your taking on will dictate how much you should or can eat in one day....

Hope I helped .

This sounds like not nearly enough food. At 390 pounds you can probably eat 3000 calories a day and see huge weightloss. However, eating too few will not get your metabolism active and will coerce your body into tapping into its muscle stores for more energy. Go to the nutrition forum and read Marcus's sticky post at the top to read about calculating how many calories you need and also what foods are good. Your food choices are looking fair, the Raisin Bran Crunch is probably loaded with sugar, most breakfast cereals (even "healthy" ones) are generally not good choices but if you gotta have one get the lowest sugar and highest fiber available. I would actually switch the fat free dressing for an olive oil vinaigrette, fat is not the enemy and the fats in olive oil are great and definitely a big part of the diet. Check the sugar content in the protein bar, if its not too high then it should be cool, but lots of people find bars too expensive to work into the diet on a daily basis, so maybe don't plan on emphasizing them too much. Cardio is a great starting point but you will need to be lifting weights ASAP if you want to really kick that weightloss off. Good luck man, its a great choice youve made, not an easy one for sure, but the results will come.

hey you guys, thanks for the feedback. Some really good stuff in there. I'm going to look into trading in my breakfast cerial for something a bit better. The bar is not to bad as far as sugar and gives me 300 caleries and really helps to balance my protien for the day. I'm really trying to get my calories up there. 3888 is my calorie level so i'm trying to keep my intake to around 3000.....

I find it hard to eat enough tho because what i'm eating on that list really fills me up for the day. But I shall push on!!!

Thanks for all the help....
