I keep reading that milk, even non fat or low fat, has a lot of sugar or converts to sugar so most people generally stay away from it if possible (trying to lose weight).

Is Soy milk any better in this case?
Or is that something that should be very limited throughout the the day also?

the issue I have heard about with too much soy protein is that it increses estrogen levels - and you don't want that if you are trying to build muscle.

I drank about 3 cups of 2% milk a day when bulking, and I have 1 cup now that I am cutting.

lean mass came on with minimal fat when I was bulking, and now the fat is coming off pretty smoothly while I am cutting...

So, I dunno... in my experience, milk is a good thing.

long term effects - maybe that is another story...

The carbs in milk are primarily sugars, but it's Maltose. Isn't the sugar everyone's worried about Sucrose?

I drink a lot of skim milk, sometimes up to 5 cups a day and I'm cutting. It's low on the Glycemic Index, and even the sticky thread at the top of this Nutrition Forum recommends that you get your carbs from low GI foods (unless there are exceptions, which weren't stated).
