i was at 190lbs with a 36" waist. i got it down to 165 lbs with 33.5" waist. i gained 5lbs in the last 2 months of my bulking phase. The problem is that my skin is really thick and even though my muscle may grow from inside it dosent appear to be maturing due to my skin thickness. my instructor tells me that i should continue to eat clean as i have been eating and to go on high rep training (20 reps per set) using drop sets for 4 weeks after every 8 weeks of heavy intense training. he says that way i will be able to reduce my skin thickness. i dunno how far this is beneficial. i havent started on that program as yet. can anyone tell me is this really beneficial? or will it lead to any injuries? what should my ideal waistline be? i am 6' tall.

huh.
how would it be possible to reduce your skin thickness through training? that doesn't make any sense to me.
if your trainer thinks you have a layer of subcutaneous fat that's inhibiting visible muscles, maybe, but skin thickness?
i would be very skeptical of this trainer. i know decreased skin thickness is a health problem associated with aging, so i wouldn't have thought that intentionally decreasing thickness would be a good thing.
rather odd all around, IMHO.

Fat is reduced by burning calories. Weight training burns calories.

Burn more calories than you take in and you lose weight. Lose too fast you lose more muscle along with the fat. Lose slower - minimize muscle loss. Lift weights - minimize muscle loss and look better when the fat is gone.
