View Full Version : An OK peanut butter?

My parents bought some peanut butter last night (for themselves), and at first I thought it was some rubish. However, when I took a look at it, it doesn't look that bad-what's troubling me is that it doesn't say it's natural (but I am guessing it is) and it says it's homogenized (don't know what that means). I am puting some links to it (it's not "the old fashioned" one, but the other one that says homogenized-unfortunately in my country I can only buy that type of pb). I am currently maintaining/preparing to go on another bulk, and I would be eating 2tbsp. of it with some lean meat as a P/F meal before bed.

What do you think of it? Is it bad? Would I gain fat from eating it?

Yes. You can get fat from peanut butter. Just as you can get fat from anything at all if you eat too much of it.

It depends entirely on your diet as a whole. If you like it and want to eat it then fit it in somewhere but remember that if you want to lose weight you must eat less than you burn and if you want to gain weight you must eat more than you burn (overall).

Nutrition facts don't tell me much. What is the ingredients list? If it has anything other than peanuts, water, and salt, then it's probably not the best choice.

Thumbs down. You don't need the corn syrup and hydrogenated oils.

You just need peanuts, some salt, and possibly water. No added sugar or crap trans fat oils.

Negative. For example, I eat Natty PB EVERYDAY - it has two ingredients: Peanuts and Salt. Really, all you need.

Agree with the others, stay away from hydrogenated vegetable oils, period. There is no need to fry peanuts in peanut oil, and then add hydrogenated oil to it. It is almost as bad as frying Twinkies in hydrogenated vegetable oil, so you have trans fats on top of trans fats. That is just wrong and should be illegal. Nothing like feeding the fat cells and clogging the arteries of those who don’t know any better. When I bulk, I never sacrifice health.

I see that you cannot get the other kinds, too bad. Teddie makes an all natural peanut butter, just peanuts and salt, which would be the way to go. Teddie also makes an organic PB with just peanuts and salt. Either one would be a much better choice.

If hydrogenated is your only choice, I would not eat it. I would just stick to raw peanuts in the shell, almonds, or walnuts.

I think the omega thing is a bit overdone on this brand. I didn't think the taste was very good either.

I would be very careful with the ConAgra Peter Pan/Great Value brand by the way. A lot of negative publicity on this.

What do you all think about skippy natural pb,
ingredients include: roasted peanuts, sugar, palm oil, salt.

I thought that I had read this was a good choice from another forum, although I don't know when considering the ingredient such as palm oil.

sugar, palm oil

there's no need for the sugar AND the palm oil to make a good natural peanut butter. Try to get one from Trader Joe's if you see one around you. I don't know of any other brands out there.
