Hello all. I haven't been around in a while due to a protracted recovery from surgery (meniscus tear). What should have been outpatient surgery and 3 day recovery turned into a 2 month bed rest recovery due to a post-op infection. Nice, right? I haven't done any physical activity in almost 7 weeks, and unfortunately ate sub-optimally pretty much the entire time. I feel so disgusting right now, it's sickening. Tomorrow I'm gettin' back to basics.

With that said, I had put on about 8 pounds in retained fluid. I casually mentioned this to my surgeon, and he recommended that I try a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted in a gallon of water to drink throughout the day. AMAZING! I lost about 5 pounds of fluid overnight. I never had to pee so much, so often, in my life. He said that apple cider vinegar is a very strong diuretic, but to make sure it's diluted so that you can barely taste it - or else it can do damage to your tooth enamel. Pretty neat, huh?

I just thought I'd tell you all about this neat little trick. It's definitely something to keep in mind after a cheat day, or before a contest, wrestling/boxing weigh-in, etc. Apparently doctors can be useful sometimes....
