View Full Version : Shaker Bottles
nc Sun, April 11th, 2004, 02:13 PM Hi. I own two shaker bottles, both apparently made by ultimateshaker.com (it says so on the bottom).
They worked fine for about 2 months but now they spray me every time I try to make a shake, and it really sucks.
What is a good shaker bottle that lasts at least six months?
Thanks...

Thanks

Two Step Mon, April 12th, 2004, 09:12 AM I didn't like the one from bodybuilding.com because it relies on a rubber O-ring to seal the bottle -- that thing lasted like 3 weeks. I bought a shaker bottle over a year ago at GNC that is just a snap top - and thats the one I am still using. I would try to track down one of those.
mzmtg Mon, April 12th, 2004, 09:29 AM I get one free each time I order ON whey from www.1fast400.com
I've gotten 4 bottles so far, 2 each of 2 different types. Both of them have a rubber seal so they dont spray all over.

Yeah, that's exactly the problem I'm running into.
I found this site (drugstore.com) linked off of GNC and they had shaker bottles that look to have a snap top. Are you talking about something like this: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=79427&catid=48835&trx=PLST-0-SRCH&trxp1=48835&trxp2=79427&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-SRCH ?
Thanks!
Tempered Mon, April 12th, 2004, 12:50 PM The first one I got from Bodybuilding.com (no logo) was great.
The one I got last week from them (with the logo) has less threads on the top and leaks everytime I use it. If you try to tighten it too tight the lid pops off the threads.
I have been meaning to check their forums and see if anyone else is complaining.
moeamaya Tue, April 13th, 2004, 01:59 PM Yah Ive had experience with nearly all the manufactures' shaker bottles and so far only the GNC snap top has made it through. I bought that shaker nearly a year and a half ago, and its the only one I use now even though I have around ten different kinds. The worst has to be the bb.com one, the lid that covers the mouth spout, broke after a few weeks, and no matter how tight i turn it, it always seems to leak.
Depends on what ur looking for. Most good whey proteins dont need any specific "mixing mechanism" inside the bottle so whenever I am going to take my protein with me somewhere I just use a Nalgene bottle. Works great!!!
kirby Wed, April 14th, 2004, 12:30 PM I have a Tupperware shaker bottle - got it from Target a while back. No leaks. Cost about $10 tho...
Target.com doesn't seem to have it. Neither does Amazon.

Justin Wed, April 14th, 2004, 12:37 PM I got a really cheapo ($2-3) 1 liter plastic bottle from Bed Bath and Beyond a few months ago. It works great, never had a leak. Unfortunately it's not shown on their web site.

Was this the one you are talking about: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=79427&catid=48835&trx=PLST-0-SRCH&trxp1=48835&trxp2=79427&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-SRCH ?
The Mike Thu, April 15th, 2004, 06:29 AM If you've got can afford one then just get a cheapo blender; you get a hell of a lot better mix with those, picked mine up for £15 or so from a local supermarket.
Obivously the other bonus is that you can use it for mixing other stuff tool used mine for making a pancake mix a couple of times, could probably make smoothies with it if I wanted.
1Fast400 Wed, April 28th, 2004, 02:41 PM We will have a new shaker in 4 weeks, which kicks the crap out of the rubber seal ones. Once we run out of our current stock, we'll start putting those in every order that goes out.

HeavenLeigh Wed, April 28th, 2004, 04:23 PM I just got one at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's made by Zyliss (http://www.zyliss.com/) and it's called the Shake 'N Go...click here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00008TAER/qid=1071172592/br=1-12/ref=br_lf_k_12//104-6946164-1255963?v=glance&s=kitchen&n=4082151) to find it at Amazon.com. So far it's working out great...only sometimes some of the mix get's stuck up in the little spout area of the bottle. So, I've learned that I have to stir it up a bit before I screw the top on and shake it up. I think it cost about $5 or $6.
Justin Wed, April 28th, 2004, 09:15 PM This thread makes me think of the scene in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 where Patricia Arquette puts a scoop of ground coffee in her mouth then drinks diet coke (to stay awake).

Mike
we who?
I have shaker bottles from Vitaglo with no rubber seal or anything, just a threaded lid. There must be a very specific way to close these things properly, cause sometimes they work like a charm and other times the liquid takes a couple minutes to trickle it's way through the threads and all over my hands. Pain in the ass.
Pico Thu, April 29th, 2004, 12:48 AM I got a rubber seal one from bodybuilding.com was hopeing for the other kind!

Judging by his user ID I think http://www.1Fast400.com ;)
1Fast400 Fri, April 30th, 2004, 09:44 PM That would be correct :)
HobbesAB Sat, May 1st, 2004, 01:09 AM FYI, I've ordered from 1Fast400 before and I've been very happy with them. In fact, my last order, I ordered on a Friday morning, and received it 3 days later (Monday afternoon). Shipping was only $5.
Mike runs a good site. Check out other fitness boards and you'll get the same feedback regarding 1Fast400.
