I always look at John Stone's progression pictures and it is a huge motivating factor for me. What i was wondering was how much muscle did he lose from January to June? I noticed he had very low calorie intake in the beginning months and he appeared to lose a tremendous amount of weight very quickly.
I assume John Stone will be the only one to probably answer this.

That's almost impossible to say.
I may have lost some muscle at some points along the way, but I probably also gained muscle during those six months simply because I was lifting weights and making newbie gains.
Strictly by the numbers? The net result was no loss in lean mass:
Start: 215 lbs @ 30% BF = 150.5 lbs lean mass
End: 160 lbs @ 6% BF** = 150.4 lbs lean mass
** As I wrote in this morning's update (http://www.johnstonefitness.com/news/feb_2007_news_archive.php#02222007), I now believe that I finished my initial fat loss phase at around 6% body fat, and not 8% as my estimates at the time indicated.
