View Full Version : Marcy Bench - What's the Bump for?

I think I've been misaligning myself on my Marcy AB-4050 bench.
When I use it, I put my shoulders right on top of the bump on the
long portion of the bench. However, I'm now thinking the shoulders
should be placed just beyond the bump so that the bump holds the
chest out and the shoulders back as the shoulders become loaded.

For those who use this bench - how do you position it???

This is very similar to the bench that comes with the Marcy Smith machine from Sam's.

I use the bump to support my lower back. My but goes on the "short" part, and that positions the hump to fill in my back. My shoulders and head much closer to the end of the "long" section.

I hear some people that are used to a flat bench find it uncomfortable, but I like the support.

Place my bet on lower back. I don't think I would like that.:nope:
