View Full Version : Sauna...
TheLemonSong Tue, February 20th, 2007, 12:14 PM Anyone use a sauna at their gym?
I just found out that my gym has a sauna. Today my back hurt a little bit and I decided to use it for a few min and it felt great!
I would like to know how healthy it is to use a sauna with moderate frequency (maybe 3 times a week for 5-10 min.)...is it good to sweat like that?

It is fine. Don't spend too much time in their and allow yourself to dehydrate. Bring water in with you. I love the way the sauna makes me feel too.

Sweet! Would it be a good idea to do this post-cardio, pre-cardio, PWO or Pre-WO?? Or does it matter?

I honestly have no idea what is really best. Before working out however seems like a bad idea to me. I would avoid that. I find it feels best to use the sauna immediately after a tough workout. It helps me to wind down and loosen up. It's probably all in my head but it feels great.

Actually, the recommended therapy after endurance exercise is cold, not hot. But I do enjoy the sauna (and the steam room) at the YMCA.
HevyMetal Tue, February 20th, 2007, 11:08 PM I used to go to gym with a sauna.
One of my favorite routines was sitting in the sauna until I was sweating like an oink and then immediately going out and under the ice-cold shower. :jumping:
guano~~ Wed, February 21st, 2007, 03:16 AM ass naked old men tend to frequent the sauna at my gym nowadays. Without a towel. Gross.
Prior to the invasion of sweaty old balls, I was a frequent visitor. As stated above, I'd imagine it was all in my head, but I felt like a million bucks after 15 minutes in the sauna. :tucool:

I think it is mostly the old men who don't use the towel. If everyone used a towel it would be a better experience.

Our sauna and steam room are unisex. :blank:

Do you think they forget their towels because of age? I see just as many young guys "forget" theirs at my gym. But of course you are right towels in sauna, unless it is co-ed.

Nah, I just think they don't give a shit. After a certain age they earn that right. The young guys should cover up as best they can too. No one wants to see another guys unit especially if it is bigger than theirs.

While I do think being nude in a public sauna is completely inappropriate, I only mentioned age in an attempt to create a visual. Just a lame attempt at humor I suppose. I certainly had no ill intentions. I apologize if I offended anyone.
