I've been dieting for a few weeks. Taken off about 9 pounds. Now is time to kick it in the butt and get in shape. I have three kids. 9, 4 and 3, and they deserve to have a dad that can move farther than the fridge to get another beer. I'm doing the BFL just to get moving and then I'll assess where I am and the adjust my plans to get to my goals. I'm only 5'5 and a few weeks ago I was a good shot above 190. I'm at 183 now and I want to get to about 143. I've started the five to six meals a day and am starting to feel better already. Well, I guess I better get going.

Don't worry about it. Procrastinator's aren't allowed on JSF. Isn't that right guys? ;)

Believe me, you'll enjoy the journey!

Official weigh in tonight...

182 pounds.

Neck 15
Chest 39
Waist 38
Hips 39
Right Bicep 13.5
Left Bicep 13.5
Right Thigh 22
Left Thigh 22
Right Calf 15
Left Calf 15

Well, I seem to be somewhat symetrical. Ha Ha

My eating must have knocked a little of the waist. Headed downstairs for workout.

I really need to get my workout done in the morning. Being to work at 6:30am really kicks me in the shorts.

Week One Done... My lifting went pretty good. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness check! I have five different kinds of cardio equipment. Every couple of years my Wife and I purchase a new piece of exercise equipment. The only problem is that you have to get on them and actually exercise! I have a NordicTrack CTX-4000 cross training exerciser kind of an aerobic rider. A NordicTrack ski machine. A NordicTrack self powered treadmill. And a spinning exercise bike. I also have a bicycle trainer that you bolt your bicycle on to and resistance is from magnets. (Back from my days as a cyclist.) I would like to alternate from machine to machine for my cardio the next few weeks. And then maybe settle on two or three as my primaries. Does anybody else use a different machine on a regular basis? My legs are still sore today......

Weighed in today. 177 pounds. I think I've cut a little too much into my calories though. I don't feel as strong today. I will push up my calories a little bit and make sure I get some good quality sleep also. I bought some creatine this weekend. It's the Body Fortress Fruit Punch. I've read some on creatine loading but not sure how much of this product to take. If anyone has a clue, let me know. I don't have the muscle soreness anymore. Sometimes they just feel kind of shakey after a few hours. I'll be doing some new measurements in the next couple of days. Radar

Lost 3 pounds this week. 172 today. Gettin better. Gotta make sure I get my cardio in tonight. My mom broke her leg yesterday. It was a compound fracture. She went by ambulance to a town about 1/2 hour away. They smiled and told us that they didn't have an orthopedic surgeon. They put her back in the ambulance we went to another hospital another hour further away. It was a good hospital and all the doctors and nurses were really great. My mother is 74 and now she is about 1 1/2 hours away from where I live. We are going to try to bring mom to the town where we live. The thought of the next few weeks trying to get mom healthy, and trying to keep my work, my life, and my workouts in balance has me a little concerned. Take care...

Well a few days later and things are starting to settle down. Mom is going to a nursing home for a little while. She will be in the same town as my sister. It's still an hour and a half away for me but mom is close to family. She didn't want to go to a nursing home. She worked in one herself for sixteen years after my father died of heart disease. ( Another topic I would like to talk about at a different time.) She watched many people come in, give up, and never leave. We won't let that happen. Dietwise I am doing good. I missed last nights leg routine and the night is getting on. My main goal is to eat good and build muscle. After reading many articles. Building muscle and losing fat at the same time is not a possibility. My way of looking at it now. I'm renovating an old house. I'm going to have to tear down to the foundation. But it's a good foundation. And I'll build from there.....

I'm down to 170 pounds today. I also haven't had a decent workout in over a week. I'm still eating good. Now I just need to get back to the weights. This week has been tough. I will try to get some pictures up. Radar.

Weigh in this week. 170 lbs again. Ugh. I knew I was going to lose momentum when my workouts started getting left out. I'm doing everything I can this week to get back into a routine. From very strick mealplans, to planning out every workout well in advance. I'm hoping the regimentation will get me back in the groove. One of my goals was to weigh 160 by Easter. Only about 10 pounds off. I wonder if 150 by Memorial day is shot as well. No sense worrying. I was well over 196 when I started. If it's to be it's up to me.

169. One of the hardest pounds I've ever lost. The last couple of weeks have been tough. I've been doing some soul searching. My self esteem was getting better as I was getting stronger and fitter. As things were getting tough. I felt the new me was starting to disappear. I felt like I was looking at the old me. There has been a voice of doubt that gets a little louder every time I miss a workout, or a meal. I need to set the laser beam on my goals and get over this hump. Radar

Hey there!
Seems like a lot of people arhave been feeling little down lately :(.
I say that after the rain sun always comes out. Its a fact of nature.

PS. Dont go by the weight alone. Weight flactuate.
I'm cutting right now and 1 day I can be 140 and the next 141.5.
I just don't let this affect me.
Keep going. The steady wins the race. :tu:

Hit the weights pretty hard Saturday. I could tell by Sunday night that it was a good workout. I passed out about nine o'clock and didn't even move until the alarm went off this morning. Muscles aren't sore but I can tell they've been worked. Tonight leg workout.

Tomorrow mom will have another surgery. The pins in her leg are not working. They will put a plate in. Mom is not diabetic or in bad health but they even brought up amputation. I don't understand why. I hope all goes well.

164 this morning. It's been way too long since I've posted. Been lifting pretty well. Mom had her surgery. When the doctor set mom's leg the first time, the tendons were set inside the fracture. The second doctor was going to screw a plate in and remove the pins that she had in stabilizing her fracture. When discovering the first doctors mistake. He had to rebrake her leg remove the tendons and nerve tissue from the fracture.
Overall though confidance is high! I'm eating alot better and workouts are happening as planned. I am getting the camera out this weekend and will be posting a picture or two. Everybody have a good weekend!

160 this morning. The last month has been nuts. What I have to show for it? New van transmission. New truck transmission. Got the van out of the shop and promptly backed into by a truck with one of the longest trailer hitches I have ever seen. Sheared my bumper in half!
On a positive note....
I am coaching three baseball teams... My nine year old is on two. And my five year old is just starting t-ball. The pounds I've lost must be showing. Lot's of good comments! My diet has been up and down the last few weeks. My lifting has been nonexistent. I've had a neck/shoulder injury and lifting has been painful to say the least. It's starting to feel better and I thought I better check in and get started again. I wanted to be at 149 by this time. I'm going to start all over with my lifting and see if I can keep myself healthy this time. I've been reading all the journals and it's been a motivating factor on me to not give up! I might join the challenge this month to help get me over this bump in the road.
