View Full Version : Morning Protien Pancakes YUMMY
erictuley Sun, February 4th, 2007, 10:32 AM I have tried and tried several recipes and finally made one that I really like.
Here you go and it kicks arse!!!!
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
1/2 cup natural quaker oats
1/4 cup egg whites
1 scoop vanilla Zero Carb Isopure
4 drops vanilla extract.
couple of dashes of cinnamon
Blend this up in a regular blender. You will have to scrape the sides a little, and the consistancy will be a little thick. I use a teflon electric skillet to cook these, but a regular griddle is fine. Spray a little PAM on there and cook at around 300' for like 3 minutes each side.
My wife tops hers with some Smucker sugar free syrup. I top mine with some smuckers sugar free jam like rasberry.
You can also throw some frozen blueberries in there if you want.
Tip... I would not use fat free cottage cheese as they come out a little flat. The good thing is you can make these the night before and refrigerate for a midmorning snack. :tu:

guava Sun, February 4th, 2007, 11:02 AM I love these (or my variation of them).
I don't need the extra calories, so I leave out the protein powder, and since I'm lactose intolerant, I've been using silken tofu instead of cottage cheese. If you don't mind a few extra carbs, you can used mashed banana (great with pecans)or unsweetened applesauce (with almond extract) instead of the cottage cheese. Pumpkin puree is another of my favorite substitutions with some added nutmeg and ginger.:eat: I usually add ground flax seeds, and sometimes some wheat germ or bran. Chocolate chips if I want a treat.
I make these all the time, and carry them with me as snacks. Much better than protein bars!
erictuley Sun, February 4th, 2007, 01:49 PM The zero carb Isopure adds 25 grams of whey isolate and only 105 total calories.. all coming from protien since there is no carbs in it. This is meant to be a great breakfast or 9am 2nd meal. Besides.. how many time can you eat a can of tuna as meal number 2 at 9am :D
Kauto_Star Wed, February 7th, 2007, 06:05 PM These look excellent - will have to try these.
mepopo Sat, February 10th, 2007, 11:42 PM all I've got is fat free cottage cheese, and tomorrow I'm going to start getting in shape again. I'm gonna make this anyways, I seem to be lucky in the kitchen. I'll also use chocolate powder instead since I hate vanilla flavour.
Bobby88 Sun, February 11th, 2007, 02:58 AM A few questions:
1. What are the oats doing in pancakes?
2. What is PAM you mentioned?
3. Can it be made with whey?

1. Grains to make it more nutritious, you don't even notice them if you blend them up good.
2. It's a non-stick spray thing, it makes sure the pancakes don't stick to the pan.
3. Yeah.
I just made it with fat free cottage cheese and chocolate whey this morning and it was pretty good. I couldn't even finish the second pancake because it was so filling.
erictuley Sun, February 11th, 2007, 07:30 PM I use 1/2 cup of oat in the mix for my low glycemic carb source. The zero carb isopure that I use is a whey protien isolate. The above serving size makes 4 cakes about 4 inches apart. I have tried other protien powders and I really like the isopure in the mix. PAM for non stick cooking and no oil or butter to cook them in. :tucool:

Has anyone used baking powder with FF cottage cheese? That might help them stay fluffier.
darksleeper25 Wed, February 14th, 2007, 07:34 AM I made these last night and let me tell you that they taste awesome!
I made it exactly as it was originally written and I'm using it as a swap-out for my 1st meal of the day. A 1/4 cup of egg whites amounted to 2 egg whites for me. But I'll probably be making one of those a whole egg just for the added fat content.
Very good recipe, it's been added to my rotation.
Thanks! :tucool:
JasonR Thu, February 15th, 2007, 04:46 PM I've been eating these for a while..but unfortunately I have taken cottage cheese out of my diet.

I'm going to try a little bit of that tomorrow when I make these but if it screws up you better shed a tear for me D:
Maklar Wed, March 7th, 2007, 12:13 PM I made these for the first time this morning and they were pretty good! I used 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries in mine. Thanks for the recipe.
carddante Sat, March 24th, 2007, 02:16 PM I've been making these for a while as well. I like to chop up pecans or almonds and mix them in or sometimes I will blend up the blueberries as well. They are fantastic and a very good meal.

Seefor Sat, March 15th, 2008, 06:32 PM Wow, I just made one of these for dinner and used sugar-free strawberry jam on it. My God, it's almost like a real pancake.
I could only make one pancake from the ingredients posted here, and not several as it seems other people are making, is it because I'm using a standard skillet and not a smaller one?
But this recipe is going in my book, certainly. Now I just have to get myself a bigger blender so I can make larger servings. :eat:

When I make my pancakes I make them with 3-4 egg whites, .5 cup fat free cottage cheese, .5 cup of oats, add some cinnamon and vanilla, 2 equal packets! It makes one pancake but its the size of my 12" skillet. Its HUGE and I love it! I usually make one every morning! I love adding peanut butter on top of it but thats a rare treat. Sometimes I put blueberries on it as I'm cooking it...thats super yummy! Usually its just a tablespoon of sugar free jelly. It totally makes me feel like I'm having a cheat meal.
docutech Sun, March 16th, 2008, 06:09 PM I made these this morning and they were pretty darn tasty. I think adding some baking powder would make them a little more poofy. They were great!

I use a larger square electric teflon skillet. I get 4 cakes about 4 inches from my recipe.
