Hi everyone!

Well, it's been 4 months in and here is my progress so far. Started at 252 lbs now down to 194lbs (5ft 10). Still fat, but getting there - I think.

I have basically been following a plan of 30mins intense cardio 5 days per week with a lower calorie diet. In the first two months I must admit I did go nuts and was eating something like 700 to 900 calories per day, 7 days a week with no cheating. I know, it's wrong, but I was so determined to get the flubber off I went hell for leather.

Anyway, now in month 4 I have started a Weights programme, of about 45mins to an hour three days per week, with cardio 6 days per week (30 min sessions), along with a calorie intake of about 2300 per day, trying to increase protein intake, naturally without suppliements, to start with anyway.

The last photo in the set is about two days ago, after about 2 weeks into the weight training programme.

My idea when I started was to give my self an 8 month target and see where I am when I get there. Re-evaluate and carry on.

Out of interest my scales say that I am at about 23%BF now, would you all agree? I also think I have about 25lbs of fat to get rid of before I can start to describe myself as "Lean".

Anyway, I shall post progress pics over the next 4 months and see where I get to!

By the way, just wanted to thank everyone on the forums (and of course John) - the stories and motivation of others here initially kicked me into doing this (October 2006 when I first visited) - what a great resource and inspiration!

All the best, and here's to the future!
Will

Amazing progress! Keep up the good work. Now you've become a great source of inspiration for others just like others were for you.

Impressive results, in a relatively short period of time. Your lats already look bigger, after I think you said 2 weeks of lifting. What did you eat when you were eating 700-900 calories a day, and how long did you eat that amount of food. That takes real discipline to eat that amount of calories, especially while doing 30 minutes a day of high intensity cardio. Good luck on your continued success.

Thanks for all your nice replies!

I was eating 700 - 900 calories (give or take 100) for about 8 weeks solid - then the rest of the time it went from about 900 to about 1300 - I didn't have an exact plan, just knew I needed to keep the calories down. I ate breakfast cereal "Special K" (in the UK, not sure if you have that in the US) with skimmed milk, plates of steamed veg, sometimes with a little gravy for taste - it was all bland - hard going towards the end of month two.

Motivation wasn't a problem though, just sick of being fat - wanted all the jiggly bits to go away! Also, at 32 I felt like I had missed out on a lot as I wouldn't/won't go swimming (for example) and things as I am too self conscious about my shape - its a real shame, have missed a number of years of my two small children growing up because of it - I can't get those years back, but I can change the future - or that's the plan anyway!

One problem i have since found with this sort of diet, is that a good percentage of my weight lost must have been water/muscle - so if I knew then what I know now (as in the last few weeks) I would have made sure that I was eating somewhere between 1800 and 2000 calories per day.

Anyway, the weights I hope will speed things up since I am eating more now - fingers crossed!

That's a great job. Add muscle, increase your metabolism and start eating more. Good stuff.

I hope in a few months time I can post some pictures and show progress as good as yours.
