View Full Version : A few questions
97civicboy Thu, January 18th, 2007, 01:32 PM Ok, first off lately I have been hearing that non-fat fruit yogurt isn't the best choice. I alawys get the store brand mainly because they actually have a good amt of protein (120 cals 0 from fat, 16g of sugar, and 8g of protein). Is there anything I can replace the yogurt with that I can have on the go per say? Also, don't know if you guys heard about the lady who drank herself to death with water, trying to win a contest to see who could drink the most water withot using the bathroom. This concerend me, as I only drink water pretty much during the day. Is there a limit, because I thought water was good for you. Lastly, I have heard potatoes are a good sourc of carbs, but what type are the best?
Sorry for all the random questions, but i figured I'd just make one thread instead of a few. Thanks.

It depends what you're comparing the yogurt to. When it's beside a 7-eleven slurpee, it's the best choice. But if you have it beside a protein shake with some oats then it might not be the best choice (depending on your goals).

A protein shake with almonds, or flax oil is pretty easy to have on the go, and doesn't have all the sugar in yogurt that you may want to avoid.

Water is good for you. I trust you aren't following in her footsteps by chugging water and holding it when you need to pee. Can you give us an approximate amount of water intake that you have during a typical day?
Lastly, I have heard potatoes are a good sourc of carbs, but what type are the best?
Sweet potato:eat:
97civicboy Thu, January 18th, 2007, 03:01 PM First off, I am currently I guess you can say bulking or trying to. I eat the yogurt as something to add to my meal/fill me up. So, maybe I should have asked, what i can replace the yogurt with to go along with my meal (example: grilled chicken sandwich, piece of fruit, yogurt, 2-3 pieces of whole wheat bread with Natural PB), so something to replace the yogurt basically. I try to drink about a gallon of water a day but fall short of that I'm pretty sure. And are baked potatoes just as good as sweet potatoes?

A gallon of water is not too much water by a long shot. Just make sure you drink it spread throughout the day and don't chug it all at once. I drink a little bit more than a gallon a day from about 5:00a.m. to before I go to bed around 8:00p.m. or so. Lots of people drink a lot more than I do in a day so you will be fine.
Baked potatoes are NOT as good as sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes or yams are a much better choice.
chris85 Thu, January 18th, 2007, 05:42 PM Sweet potatoes have much more vitamins as where a plain baked potatoe is just carbs, so in a way its more bang for your buck.
97civicboy Fri, January 19th, 2007, 11:22 AM Any thoughts on what I can replace with the yogurt, sometihng preferably i can just open and eat like the yogurt.
chris85 Fri, January 19th, 2007, 05:30 PM I would like to know a replacement too if yogurt isn't good for you. Cause I love some yogurt, even though I don't eat it often its a great snack. What is wrong with 60 cal. O grams of fat, 3 carbs, and 8 grams of protein?

Also, baked potatoes spike your blood sugar much more rapidly than do yams and sweet potatoes.
