The wife and I have started a semi-personal training program. One of her exercises is a 'round-the-clock-lunge' - but in spite of reading descriptions here and there we can't quite visualize or duplicate this exercise. The closest we came also involved my wife almost injuring her knee, and she does 3+ jazzercise sessions a week.
We're looking for pictures or video - any ideas? Google was most unhelpful.....as was exrx.net

OK there is a picture here: (http://www.techsupportforskiers.com/fermoile.htm)

Basically that picture is the "lunge" as apparently skiers understand lunges, toward 12:00 - in other words straight ahead.
Then the "1:00" lunge is when the front foot lands ahead and a little to the right; the "2:00" lunge is when the front foot lands to the right and a little ahead; the "3:00" lunge is directly to the right, etc., the "6:00" lunge is a reverse lunge. The page I referenced doesn't explain that well, but it's obvious if you try it that you can't get the left knee on the floor if you lunge directly back with the right foot. And so on and so forth.
So when you are done going around the clock, you have had one foot land once at each "hour", keeping the other foot in the center of an imaginary clock face.
There are a bunch of other "clock" styled exercises, such as hovers and reaches. They all have the common idea that your initial stance is in the center of an imaginary clockface, and you do reps in each of the directions defined by the hours of the clock.

well, that makes sense - the 6:00 reverse lunge is basically the first lunge for the other leg then - but the 3:00 can't be a lunge at all unless you torque your other trailing leg at a weird angle - I saw it described more as a squat, which isn't even a lunge so ..........???
