Hi All.

After a fantastic 2 months of training last summer where I got down to 185lbs , I fell off the wagon in a big way and have gone back up to 215lbs.
However I have started on my road to fitness, not fatness again. My aim is to get muscular and fit .Not large, just well proportioned. I reckon 175 pounds will be my my optimum weight, maybe a little more.

The big difference this time to last is that I have given up smoking. It wasn't a new year resolution. I simply woke up on the 18th December and didn't want to smoke. After 18 yrs of smoking, including the last 10 years smoking 30 a day ,I thought I would suffer withdrawal symptoms but I can honestly say I have had no problesm whatsoever. I have been to the pub, to a football game, done a 5 hour road trip , basically all the things where I have always smoked heavily and had no problems. I'm one very happy man at the moment .

This has followed through to my workout and eating plan. I have stopped the tons of chocolate I used to eat . I'm eating far cleaner and logging everything I consume. Its working as well as I am eating approx 2000 cals a day rather than the anything up to 4000 I used to be capable of. I can't do the ultra strict thing that John did and I am having a few cheat meals a week but after 2 weeks into my plan I have lost 8 pounds.

I'm going to the gym 5 times a week. weights 2/3 times a week and 45mins of cardio on Sat and Sun.

Anyway I think what I want to say is that looking at the transformations on this site is inspiring. It has shown me that despite my high bodyfat and unathletic build , I will be able to change by using all the info avaiable to me here. I think its inevitable I will have some bad times where I feel like not bothering with a workout. At those times I will be using this site for inspiration. I will put some photos up as well, just got to work out how to do it.

3 weeks into my plan and its going really well. Lost 2 pounds last week to now be at a total of 10lbs since the 1st Jan . I can actually bend over now to get my socks on without a struggle!! I'm not being ultra strict with my diet which means I reckon i'll be able to keep to the plan without falling off the wagon. I have a goal and I'm seeing it through this time

10lbs is a great start. Hopefully that will motivate to continue.

Keep up the good work :gl:

Well done.

Maybe a regular journal in the journal section is another tool you can use to advance your goals.
