I know there's another thread on shoulder injuries, but I wanted to make sure I was looking at the right advice because the shoulder is complicated...

Every time I start working out again, my shoulder acts up and I have to stop doing upper body. The problem is right behind the top edge of my shoulder, right where the bone kinda feels like a triangle. It becomes chronically sore/strained. As soon as this happens, VERY light, EVERYDAY movements reinjure it again and again, these movements are:

-pulling a chair out from a table where my hand is at midsection height

-that movement where you pull the laces on your shoes down (one on each hand) to tighten them on the first loop (when you first cross them and pull them down to make them really tight)

These simple movements aggravate the shoulder suddenly. Recently I got this problem simply from doing pushups(but I would go to failure). I'm training for the military and would like to be able to go to failure without hurting my shoulder. Any advice on what to do?

Advice, yes, see a sports doctor. It sounds like there may be something more going on than simple tendonitis or adjustment that would be expected when taking on a new training plan. It's possible you have an injury or a bone spur or something. These are by no means the end of the world, but a sports doc will first Xray and then MRI if they feel that's necessary, but a simple xray can identify a bone spur, which could cause problems like you have and potentially be surgically removed.

I'm not saying you need surgery, though. I'm saying, see a doc :) GL!

Agree with Skoorb. To be more specific....go straight to an Orthopedist. Don't waste your time with other doctors. An Ortho should be able to give you a reasonable diagnosis immediately and then order up the MRI to confirm.
