I have, for almost a decade been drinking extremely much diet soda, that contained aspartame, every single day. Lately I have heard much about aspartame...
I mean, what is the deal?
Its hard for me to understand the bad benefits of a diet coke, when it contains no sugar, no carbs, or any of that stuff... Is aspartame and diet coke really as bad as people make it out to me?
if it has no sugar or carbs, or calories, then how can it make you fat?

Do a google search for aspartame. Google will come up with many, many websites that boycott aspartame.
It's been said to cause weight gain & all other sorts of problems.
imo, it isn't horrible if it's had on occasion. It's better than having regular soda (even though studies disagree).
Check out the thread on diet sodas. Lot's of members drink diet soda. I myself have it on occasion to keep me away from regular sodas.

Everything in moderation is fine. I try to avoid them though. But then it's because I'm perfectly happy with drinking water all the time.

Sure, lots of pages will come up, but there's generally very little science to substantiate these claims. Do a search in pubmed (http://www.pubmed.com) and you're hard pressed to find any journal articles linking diet soft drinks with weight gain.
It's important to seperate the hype from the science.

It's more just that diet drinks are full of chemicals...
sure, there's no sugar, but there's plenty of other junk in there that your body has to clear out. It's just not... good clean healthy food, that's all.
