Recently, my best friend from highschool got engaged. A few weeks later he asked me to be his best man. I don't want to be "fat guy giving the speech that looks like a penquin in a tux."

I have had failed journals in the past, I think my downfall was that I never gave myself measurable goals to reach. I will be taking pictures, taking measurements, and weighing myself.

I have a good deal of lean mass on my frame, but I also have a lot of fat, weighing in at 249.6lbs as of 1/10/07.

Goals
-fit into 34 waist pants by wedding (tentative date Oct 07)
-get back under 200lbs for the first time since highschool.
-be consistent!!!

Timeline goals
-get to 240lbs and the second belt hole, by February.

Diet
120oz. of water a day

8:00am - oats and peanut butter
11:15am - turkey sandwich
2:30pm - non fat yogurt
6:30pm - grilled chicken breast and veggies
8:00pm - nitrean protein shake

Training - In December I started doing circuit training at the gym. I really liked it compared to doing a regular split, so I think thats where I will start. So atleast 3 days of circuit training and an additional 2 days of cardio only days.

Hey there:) Congrats on being the best man:tucool: It's always good to have measurable goals as they keep you on track and heading towards something. That being said, I really don't think you're eating enough.

Sounds like good, measurable goals. And VERY VERY attainable!!

Sounds like you have a good jump on a plan. Have you determined your BMR? Also, I tend to agree with dluc. It doesn't look like you're eating enough.

Good luck!!!:gl::gl:

I was just wondering where you had wondered off to. Good to see you back!! I third the eating plan. Remember, you need to fuel the body to function properly. At 225, my maintenance was high 2,000. Hmm, want to start a challenge? My friend is getting married Memorial Day weekend in Savannah, GA... only 5 or so miles to the beaches.. and 29 miles to Hilton Head. :bb:

120oz of water - done

Diet - better than fast food, but still needs some work.
6:30 - can of pepsi, (needed something to keep me awake on my drive to work.
8:00 - cup of oats with tablespoon of peanut butter
11:30 - turkey sandwich and some potato chips
1:00 - slim jim
4:30 - bag of pretzels
8:00 - 3 encheladas - went out to dinner, today was not a good day for my diet.

Training - first day back to the gym since before Christmas was a tough one. The treadmill was my warm up, by the time I got to a mile I was whooped. Then I road a lower paced cardio bike thing, for a little while and I was tired enough to make today a cardio day. But atleast I made it to the gym.

I am calling the day a success, mostly because of what I was doing last week. Because I finally drank plenty of water and did some kind of physical exercise.

I know I have to clamp down more but every little bit helps.

Thanks for the replies. I know my calories seem low, I need to go to the store to stock back up on healthy foods. I am aiming for 2500 calories.

Once again I lost the battle with the diet. I need to get to bed earlier so that I don't need a sugar high to get me to work. I did kick ass at the gym today, made it through three revolutions in the circuit. This weekend will be my first test of willpower.

My diet is killing me. I haven't held up my part of the deal, mostly because I can't make it to the store yet. I get paid on Friday and I am really broke. I did make it to the gym and but it was so crowded my workout felt halfassed.

I really hate not being able to post on my lunch break anymore, so the updates seem to be far and few between. I have been solid with my workouts in the last 2 weeks. The diet still sucks and I know that is what is holding me back. So no result to post as of today. I need to go back and look at my skinny pictues for motivation. Anyway I am off to the gym.

At work we started another weight loss challenge that ends in one month. This is my opportunity to make some money while I reach my goals.

I am going to the gym and then the grocery store for a stock of healthy foods. I am slowly bringing all three of the necessities needed to eventually lose fat.

My workouts have been good and I am slowing correcting my diet, but I don't expect big results just yet.

Awesome workout done tonight!!

Then chicken and shrimp stir fry for dinner. It was delicious!!

I finally got the amount of water that I need for the first time in about a week, so I spent plenty of time in the bathroom today.

No training today, Ohio got a crap load of snow dumped on us this afternoon so transportation has been tough. Clean eating today not as much water as I wanted but I still have time for that.

How much did you end up getting? I think we got about 5 inches or so in Wellsville, but we got about a half an inch of ice with it.

Diet - clean!
Workouts - hard!
Water intake - over a gallon!

A good last couple of days, I hope the scale cooperates here soon.

Since I am drinking so much water lately, I figured I would add a little exercise into my bathroom trips. So everytime I am on my way back from the bathroom, I run down the stairs to the basement and back up. I know it just a little, but I think every little bit helps.

I missed my workout today and I'm pissed about it. But on the other hand, I was taking my girlfriend to urgent care instead of the gym, so I can't feel too bad. My diet and water intake were spot on today, so thats a plus.

I really wish my work firewall didn't block out this place, I feel like I have fallen out of the community, because I can post and read oon my lunch break.

I did get my perscription for contacts refilled, so now I can see when I am working out. Thats all for today.

Another great day! I still need to eat dinner, but other than that my meals have been clean and healthy. There was an asskicking in the gym today, and I will feel it tomorrow! Drinking over a gallon of water has become natural to me, the bathroom breaks are still a little annoying though.

The scale finally moved, I am down 3 pounds. 248lbs down from 251lbs, so now that I have my first real progress I can keep motivated.

Last night I had my cheat meal at Red Lobster, Cajun Crab Alfredo. It was delicious, the problem came after dinner when we went out. Beer is definitely a downfall, but I managed to go to the gym this morning and make up for it. I met one of my friends there today so I had partner in the gym. She is a rower for Notre Dame, so basically she kicked my ass on every cardio thing we did. All in all it was a good time.

Doing the stairs on my lunch break at work this week seems to be taking its toll on my legs. My calves are killing me. It must be the heavy Doc Martin boots I was wearing when I did them. I have tried to stretch them out, this morning I took a bath and soaked them. But nothing seems to help, any suggestions??

I have been without a computer for over a week and it seems like it has been forever. My diet and exercise have been awesome this week though. Well except for today, my workout was a little lackluster. Maybe it was because I was looking forward to buying a new laptop, or just looking forward to the weekend, but it was the worst one in a while.

I have dropped a few pounds in the last week!! I feel I am starting to see some results. I entered a weight loss competition at work a little over 2 weeks ago. I am down about 6lbs since then and the contest only lasts one month. Needless to say I am going to take home the money!!

Tomorrow I am going to the Cleveland Auto Show at the I-X Center. I don't have a workout planned for tomorrow, but I will end up getting about a 2 miles worth of walking at the show.

UFC 68 is on, on Saturday night. I think it will be a great show, Randy Couture, Rich Franklin, and Matt Hughes are all fighting!!!! Should be a hell of an event.

I stepped on the scale this morning, 246.5lbs. Thats 4.5lbs in a little over 2 weeks! This should keep me motivated for a little while.

I just finished watching the UFC Pay-per-view, for the first time in about a year it has lived up to the hype of the event.

I guess you could say I took and off day as far a diet goes today. I did get a decent amount of walking in though, at the car show. The new Camaro looks like it could be really sweet!!

I will make an effort to go to the gym tomorrow, maybe just some bodyweight exercises around the apartment. As long as I don't sit on my but all day everything should be fine.

I have been sick since Sunday night, so diet has been out of whack for a couple of days. And no workouts either. I am back to normal and tomorrow I will be back on track. I wouldn't be suprised if my weight was up a bit, by retaining water. We will find out in the morning.

My weigh in for my weight loss contest at work is in 10 days. So I need to shed all the water weight I can by then.

Finally back to normal. I kicked ass at the gym today, for the first time in a while I was proud of my workout and how far I pushed myself. I could hae drank more water during the day, but I finished strong with it. The day started slow, due to horrible roads and lots of snow. I was late for work, and could't eat breakfast until later in the day.

In the next couple of weeks I am going to switch back to using a 4 day split, gonna have to put some thought into designing it.

Another great day for me. Diet was spot on, and I exceeded my gallon by more that I ever have. And I again kicked my ass at the gym.

Not much else to say....

Another good day!! All I need is dinner and my meals will have been perfect. Last week my Friday workout was lackluster and seemed kinda halfassed. Not this time!! I think I earned my day off tomorrow.

No training on the weekends might come to an end soon. I feel like not getting to the gym for at least some cardio, that I am slacking. So I am going to add in one more cardio session a week. This doesn't have to necessarily be at the gym or be on the treadmill. I am going start getting out more with my exercise, only if the nice weather holds up.

Lately I have been making better decisions in my diet that are hopefully becoming habit to me. The girlfriend and I got a membership to Sam's Club which will allow me to buy food in bulk, like frozen chicken, and canned foods.

Thursday is my weigh in for the weight loss competition at work. This is my chance to win $100 for just losing the weight I was planning on getting rid of anyway.

I had a great day for a Monday. I really kicked my ass on the bike at the gym. Then I did the circuit room, which really finished the workout on a good strong note. I drank way over a gallon of water, and the diet was probably the best day I have had so far.

So tonight I am relaxing and watching "the Departed".

I weighed in at 244lbs this morning. So I have lost 7lbs so far, I guess I am right on track. I had another good day today, the gym was almost empty because it was in the 70's today, not normal for March in Ohio. I still need to have another meal before bed, but as long as it has some protein that my diet was good. I had plenty of water too. All in all a good day!!

Nice progress:tu: Keep it up!

Thanks dluc!

Another great day at the gym! I think since I have kicked up the calories my workouts have been more energenic and awesome. The diet has just as good. I am a little late on dinner but it is a Lean Cuisine Lasagna (pretty good). I continue to drink plenty of water.

I love Sam's Club. I have about a months supply of chicken and soup, which is going to make it easy to stay on track.

Tomorrow is my weigh in for my weight loss contest at work, so no late night snacking tonight. I think I will have it by at least 3 or 4 pounds!!

Another good day as far as everything else goes. Except the cals are a little low, so that my stomach has less in it for the weigh in.

March 16th, 2007, 11:41 PM
I won my challenge at work! But, trying to stay "empty" all morning, made it hard to get my water in. After I won the contest, I decided I would have my cheat meal, Pancakes!!!!

I went out to dinner with my girlfriend, my best friend, and his fiance'. So I skipped my workout :nono:

Tomorrow everything will be back to normal. I promise!

I have been slacking a little lately, in the meanwhile I have been trying to buy a house. So I spent most of my time setting up appointments and such. As of today I am tightening the strings again.

danboback
April 27th, 2007, 09:43 PM
I finally got a house!! I am ready to be out of this cramped apartment! The new house is in with one half mile away from my dad's house (the one I grew up in). It needs some work, but it has potential. Its a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom bungalow with a 2 car garage in Canton, Ohio for 70K in a nice neighborhood with a brand new highschool. I think my patience has paid off. Another positive is being able to workout at home in the basement! I will finally have room for my weight bench and Torso Bob!

I will post pics once we sling some paint and move in some furniture.

It seems my motivation is always all or nothing. When I don't make it to the gym, I don't eat healthy either....so I guess my only option is to workout.

The wedding that I'm in now has a date. I have until 9/22 to look better in a tux than I do today. So I have 5 months to do some good, which is plenty of time to make a noticable difference. Thats all for todays update.
