rtestes Sun, January 7th, 2007, 01:25 AM Love him or hate him, Arthur Jones made an impact on weight training. Here is a new site dedicated to his contributions.:tucool:

bradh Sun, January 7th, 2007, 03:41 AM Yep he made an impact and i'd guess he's pretty well off.
Too bad most of his training methods suck.
Paris Hilton made an impact.
HevyMetal Sun, January 7th, 2007, 01:04 PM I love Paris Hilton...does she have an exercise c.d. out ?:D
Although I don't follow the teachings of any ONE trainer, I believe that just about all the greats have something to offer that can be absorbed and incorporated into a lifter's routine.
Arthur Jones is another great pioneer among many,
so I'll be seeing what he has to say :read:

Yeah he has some good ideas but his my way or the highway approach shows how narrow minded he can be IMO. That also reflects HIT in general, not much variety.

Jones was a jerk, he was arrogant, he was narrow-minded even, maybe (I never met the guy, but two friends of mine have said he was nice to them).
He was also brilliant, and his life has been very interesting to say the least.
Saying ALL of his training methods suck is kind of narrow minded yourself, canada. ;) He didn't just teach "one set to failure!" :)

Timbermiko Mon, January 8th, 2007, 12:13 AM Well when your in Jone's position of being a multimillionaire and such, these attributes do show eh?
The famed strength coach Dick Connor once said "When you asked Arthur a question you really had to want the answer" meaning Mr. Jones wasn't gonna B.S. you, or dilute the answer.
Some like Dr. Ken Leistner just plain out love to train that way..ie:
High rep breathing squats and such.
Seen a video of Dr. Ken putting trainees through their paces , High rep squats and high rep deadlifts in the upper 400's with buckets placed throughout the gym floor for the vomit sessions.;)
Back to Arthur, I was reading the beginning of his biography from this very site last nite, sure caught my attention.
