U2rocks Tue, January 27th, 2004, 02:48 PM ok, i try to stick with vanilla flavored whey so i can mix it into different things. muscle milk is fabulous, but thats really the best vanilla there is i think. i've tried optimum, designer and isopure. are there any other good ones?
Jono Tue, January 27th, 2004, 02:53 PM NX Care Whey isolate - http://www.nxcare.com/prod_detail.php?id=4
i've used this for 5 months. tried chocolate and strawberry/banana twist. absolutly OUTSTANDING taste and quality protein.
i mix strawberry/banana with oatmeal, water, creatine/glutamine.. it just tastes sooooo good!
not to mention i havn't seen another powder that yields 33g of protein with only 140 calories
John Stone Tue, January 27th, 2004, 03:03 PM I wrote about the taste of some of the protein powders I've tried over the past year in a couple of my past Daily News articles. Of course these are based on my personal tastes, so please don't blame me if you buy 10 pounds of one of the ones I like and hate it! :D

NME Tue, January 27th, 2004, 03:39 PM I am a big fan of Optimum Nutrition's Chocolate Mint. Very good taste, and a brand that is respected by nearly everybody.
map200uk Tue, January 27th, 2004, 05:15 PM Hey guys, im always hearing about optimum whey, anyone know somewhere in the UK that sells it?

moeamaya Tue, January 27th, 2004, 06:13 PM Gourment Whey is supposed to be awesome but the price definitely reflects that.
Personally, I love protein blends: Syntrax Isomatrix and VPX Micellean are my favorites.
BlackBeauty Tue, January 27th, 2004, 06:14 PM My favourite is Horley's Sculpt for Women in Chocolate. I can't stand any other brands or any other flavours :p
haven97 Tue, January 27th, 2004, 11:02 PM I like Optimum Nutrition Chocolate and it mixes better than any other I have had.
HDT tastes good but mixes bad.
Please dont flame me but I have even had Nitrotech - It mixes good and tasts good as well. I even gained some weight on this stuff.
They all taste good with milk but I usually use water to keep the cals down.
Famous - I have been hearing good things about the ON Chocolate Mint I will have to give that a try, thanks
Evil Hx Coupe Tue, January 27th, 2004, 11:10 PM I've been using the GNC kind and it tasted like crap when I first started taking it... Now I'm used to the taste and I actually like it, but it's a ripoff so when this bucket is done I'm going to change to something better.
F1Champ Wed, January 28th, 2004, 10:38 AM Optimun vanila's not bad.
Designer french vanila is disgusting.
H & L Health in Canada tastes great.
Weightsareheavy Wed, January 28th, 2004, 11:23 AM I am currently using GNC mega whey chocolate. It tastes better than most whey I've had, and it has BCAA's and 5g of L-Glutamine per serving.
CattleProd Wed, January 28th, 2004, 01:12 PM I like my optimum nutrition Vanilla. Going to try chocolate-mint eventually.
NME Wed, January 28th, 2004, 01:24 PM Please dont flame me but I have even had Nitrotech - It mixes good and tasts good as well. I even gained some weight on this stuff.
Awww, come on now. You're crazy if you think Nitrotech tastes good or mixes well*. God, the worst experience throughout my fitness life is without a doubt choking down Nitrotech strawberry flavored garbage post-workout. Absolutely horrid.
*actually, it might mix just fine...I used a shaker exclusively when I took Nitrotech and to say it "shook" poorly is a tremendous understatement; globs of the stuff would be stuck at the bottom of the shaker more often than not.
Lisa Stone Wed, January 28th, 2004, 01:30 PM I like Designer chocolate best and I also like GNC's chocolate too. I don't really like any other flavors.
Jonesy Wed, January 28th, 2004, 01:31 PM If you like Optimum Nutrition's protein, I find that EAS's Simply Protein is just as good. The best thing I've found to spice up the vanilla is with a scoop or two of ice cream and about a cup of fresh berries. I've tried strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries and found that they all taste pretty good!

I drank cholocate and it really wasn't half bad. My friend tried the other flavors and said they sucked. I really don't know since i have only bought chocolate flavor whey no matter which brand. HDT mos def was the worst for mixing. lol I knew i would get flamed for putting nitrotech in there
James Thu, January 29th, 2004, 03:34 PM ok, i try to stick with vanilla flavored whey so i can mix it into different things. muscle milk is fabulous, but thats really the best vanilla there is i think. i've tried optimum, designer and isopure. are there any other good ones?
I've been drinking EAS chocolate whey for a week now, and it taste fine. It doesn't mix very well( ok..not at all  ), but it's got good flavor. I've heard good things about designer whey, so I'll try that next as my wife reps it, and I can get it cheap!! :p
d!abolic Thu, January 29th, 2004, 03:37 PM The best tasting whey i've ever had is Prolab Whey Advantage Strawberry. I couldn't believe how delicious it was! It even had little pieces of strawberry in it.
Teg4e Thu, January 29th, 2004, 05:41 PM After reading through John Stone's reviews of Protein Powder's I tried Designer Whey (Chocolate), and it's great! Tastes like a milkshake with milk, and also good with just water.
I bought this at GNC, but I'm sure there's cheaper places online. Where do you guys buy Protein Powder for cheap? (sorry for the thread jack)
SCHTEEVIE Thu, January 29th, 2004, 06:00 PM I am not big on sweetners, so I struggled to find a good high quality product that has a high ratio of protein per scoop that was NOT FLAVORED!
and this is the brand of choice for me:
nature's best iso pro (http://www.sndcanada.com/gc/gc_item.exe?F=D&K=NB-E510&V=Brief&R=H%2FCatalog%3ANature's%20Best&ID=0129175504642313216377)
(this is a candian site, so the prices are canadian, and the name is different - I believe it is called "isopure" in the US)
35 gram scoop with 30 grams of whey protein isloate, fat free and almost no carbs - great quality stuff.
if I want flavor, I add a table spoon of pure cocoa powder, and a teaspoon of brown sugar - and it is a great chocolate shake.
or I blend it with real fruit like strawberrries or something.
as for flavored kinds, optimum nutrition double chocolate is ok, but it is less protein (22gs per scoop) and it is not isolate...
tankhead Thu, January 29th, 2004, 06:27 PM I use MHP Simply Whey. I just ordered 2 tubs of it for $25.98 a tub (5 gallon) on BodyBuilding.com. Vanilla and Chocolate. It is a great value. :tucool:
