View Full Version : Fasted Morning Cardio not working
aruchunan Wed, November 22nd, 2006, 01:59 AM Hi, I currently do 30 mins HIIT on the treadmill first thing in the morning (on a empty stomach). I follow a strict diet and eat five times a day. Its been more than three weeks and I havent lost anything. Its really frustrating to see no results. What should I do? any changes or improvements to my routine. Should I swtich the morning cardio to later in the day? Need help guys....
dluc Wed, November 22nd, 2006, 02:07 AM I'm not the best guy to ask about cardio, but I'm quite sure it's not recommended to be performing HIIT cardio on an empty stomach. I believe performing HIIT fasted will lead you into catabolism first thing in the morning which is no good. As for your problem with no results, what does the rest of your plan look like? List your meals and workout program and people here should be quick to help:nod:
Silver Wed, November 22nd, 2006, 02:08 AM I think the general theory is that HIIT shouldn't generally be fasted, first of all. Maybe try fasted LISS instead or do HIIT later in the day.
Nothing is guaranteed to work for anyone.
I haven't seen anything about your diet or anything...maybe you've posted that...but if not, you may want to throw that up to see if anyone can help there.
Gordo Wed, November 22nd, 2006, 07:21 AM if you haven't lost anything....you may be reshifting your body composition. Forget the scale, what does the mirror say?
Get your bodyfat tested and then retested a month later. That will give you a better picture.
All that said, post your diet....I'm sure part of your answer lies there.
Other questions:
How did you figure out your daily calorie allotment?
Height, Weight?
How many cals are you consuming?
Do you weigh and measure meals?
Do you track your calories daily?
Are you weight training?
Hort Wed, November 22nd, 2006, 07:54 AM 1) Agree with Gordo
2) Don't do HIIT fasted
3) DO LISS, 45 minutes, fasted, daily

Gordo, sometimes I feel like I just go around agreeing with you.
Take your measurements with a tape measure. Go for arms, chest, waist, hips, thigh, calves, anywhere where fat tends to sit on you. Look at how your clothes fit, and what the mirror says.
Also, all those questions Gordo said. :)
AND! I understand your frustration! Can be annoying when you're just looking at the scales- which is why it's good to assess lots of different things, like, don't you feel better for doing it?
tedpod Wed, November 22nd, 2006, 08:35 AM i treat my hiit sessions just like weight training ones....as far as nutrition goes... its taxing on the cns if done correctly
if your cutting and doing fasted cardio id say look into low intensity cardio.....or wake up earlier and eat some food...
keep the muscle..the nubem on the scale is as usefull as a football bat

i agree, when im cutting i dont even pay attention to the scale, i only pay attention to the mirror and the tape measure.
