View Full Version : Just picked up my home gym - WOOT!

I'd been looking for a power rack/bench/olympic barbell setup for a while and figured I was going to have to spend somewhere in the $600-$700 range. But I found someone locally selling a used setup that was exactly what I was looking for. I got:

A heavy-duty power cage. Not sure of the brand, but it appears to be at least as sturdy as the BodySolid one I was going to buy. Has a bar on top for pull-ups.

A 300lb Olympic barbell set w/ chrome bar and spring collars.

A Parabody flat/incline/decline adjustable bench

A chrome standard barbell and dumbell handles w/ 90lbs of standard weights

A set of hex dumbells, 10lb - 25lb

A tree for the weights

All this for $350 :claplow:

I have a digital camera, so I'll post some pics as soon as I get everything set up. Have to clean out the garage first. :d_eek:

Since I already had a standard barbell/dumbell set, I think I'll take the second set and the hex dumbells to Play it Again Sports and see what I can get for them. With that and the money I saved on the rest of the equipment, my plan is to get some rubber flooring and another pair of 45lb Olympic plates, since my squats and deadlifts are starting to approach the upper limits of the 300lb set. Also, it's nice to be able to slap on two 45's on each side, instead of one 45 and a dozen smaller weights.

Not quite yet, but getting there! :db:

In high school football, we were expected to be able to bench and clean 1x our weight, and squat 1.5x our weight. I'm 195 now, so by that standard I should be able to squat 290 or so...got some work to do yet!
