hey guys i am cutting at the moment and have decided to try a popular diet i havnt done before it consists of 35 40% protein 10-15%carbs and 50 55 % fats however it says that every 2 weeks you should refeed your body with alot of carbs and a few cheat meals for one day and you can eat 2-3 x the amount of cals you are eating on the cut

however this doesnt make sense how the refeed can be good for u? and your fat loss efforts , and if you arnt craving food can you skip the refeed day until u absolutley need it??

Can you point me to some more information about the diet you're looking at?

I've never done refeeding via cheat meals, but I have done refeeding via "carb up meals" (typically every 3-4 days, or you can pick two days per week do schedule your refeed meals). This to me makes much more sense than a random cheat meal which might possibly be too full of protein, too low in fiber, not enough carbs, etc. If you are keeping carbs at 10% (IMO fiber still needs to be high!), then a refeed will certainly be good for you I believe.

If you were going this route, you probably won't really know when you "need it;" it's difficult to judge by emotion or mindset or feelings alone. Refeed on the scheduled days and don't try to do it when you "feel" like you need to. If it's an issue in your mind (getting sick of eating clean), and you need a cheat meal, then just have one and go about your plan as scheduled for the next meal of that day. But then again, from what I recall you have competition goals, so you really should be able to handle strict dieting anyway. :)

ok thanks for the help so could you assist me with an example on a refeed day i.e macro ratios & should your calories be higher than what you normally have when not on your refeed or the same??

Is it the like Anabolic Diet by any chance? If so he describes the refeed fairly well... I did this for about 5 months with OK results. The refeed is all about restoring muscle glycogen which you then deplete over the next week. I believe the suggested macros were about 50-60% carbs, 10% protein and 30-40% fats if I remember correctly.

On those refeed stretches I was all about bagels with fruit-only spreads, lots of fruit and salads, veggies, pasta, lots of pistachios, almonds and peanut butter, etc.
