Hey, I'm also 18 years old..your situations seems rough but possible. Do you have access to a gym that you can just drive to instead of running outside? If not, can you buy any equipment?

Glad you joined!

It's great first step.

I think there are two absolute keys to being successful at getting fit:

1) Define success: In the first 30 days success is just sticking too it.

It doesn't matter if your body changes (visibly).
What gives you long-term success is making a committment to a workout schedule for 30 days (e.g., even just 10-20 minutes 3 times a week...anything, as long as you do it consistently).

You prove to yourself that you can keep committments to yourself.

2) Be (a little) patient:
The change will come when you don't expect it.
Forget about how you look day to day, just do the right things.
If you do, no one can PREVENT you from getting in shape.

Also, if you can, feed your mind good things while you feed your body good things. It's your mind that gets you up, keeps you up.

Good luck!
