Maya Wed, November 1st, 2006, 03:29 AM I used to know this female bodybuilder (serious, serious girl) and that's what she swore by while bulking. She was saying that while running on calorie sulprus it kept the fat gain to a minimum
wh0rume Wed, November 1st, 2006, 09:36 AM It will work the same for women as it does for men.
And it will work great as long as you dont go crazy on the carb up days.
It's really easy to get in a mode of thinking of "i can eat all the carbs i want!!!" but you need to be careful and still keep close track of how much you're eating and when.
Make sure you have a set plan for these days (as far as food choices go) so that you wont make that mistake.
Savyart Wed, November 1st, 2006, 12:05 PM I have found that depending on my goals it can be very helpful, but I don't do severe cycling either.
If I have an endurance event coming up, I cycle low for a few days, then high the day before and of. On a daily basis, I tend to cycle the carbs out of my last meal of the day, and more importantly I cycle the TYPES of carbs. Weight training days are different than Cardio days, etc. :)
Pete5 Wed, November 1st, 2006, 10:19 PM I have a similar question regarding carb loading. Would it be alright for someone my age to carb load a few days before a game to try to boost my glycogen? For instance I'd eat 30-35 percent carbs a couple days and then 70-75 percent the day after.

Now, no scientific proof, but just a personal result/preference. This past season for me, I actually just stuck to the carbo loading the night before/ morning of a game (about 70% of each meal) and it seemed to be enough to get through the games without dealing with any real fatigue issues. The day after I actually went back to a normal carb load (around 40-50%)
Actually managed to drop about 15lbs during the season with this, without any noticable muscle loss.

I was thinking of doing this:
Depletion – Day 1
Mixed Diet (of fats and carbs) – Day 2, 3, 4
High CHO Diet (70- 80%) – Day 5, 6 7
Competition – Day 8
