View Full Version : Muscle groups needing more than one run per week?
paolo12345678910 Tue, October 31st, 2006, 02:21 PM Hey there. So this week I plan on adjusting a few things in my routine. I usually split my bicep/tricep exercises but this week I chose to take out biceps all together and split my triceps into two instead. So I wonder if at all, which other groups to do twice? I will divide my back too, well not really, I'll add chinups to one tricep day, which I'll do on opposite ends of the week.
Now onto the other exercises confusing me. My trap exercise, which consists of shoulder shrugs, upright rows and these deadlifts: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/casi4.htm (I use dumbells for now). And the other one are my shoulders. Should I do these twice as well?
So if it helps growth at all, which exercises should I do twice a week? (I think chest and legs are pretty straight forward. I feel sore for a few days after each one).
BreakingPoint Tue, October 31st, 2006, 03:31 PM What is your current routine (movements, set/reps, sessions)?
droopy172 Tue, October 31st, 2006, 04:55 PM Well if your a newbie or somewhat a beginner you can do full body workouts which are usually done about 2-3 times per week. If your more intermediate and advanced then it takes a little more planning since your body isn't going to adapt as fast as a newbie would. The only body part that you can safe to say train numerous times per week are abs, everything else is debatable where some say its bad some say its fine. Do what works best for you. If you add 5lbs to what you lift every week or two weeks or even 3 weeks then stay at it.

My problem is I don't have any heavy weights. I can't afford them at the moment and I don't live near any gyms. The only own 20LB dumbells, a chin-up bar and various household objects I've turned into dipping stations. Most of my Exercises aim at a total of 36 reps.
SwoleCat Wed, November 1st, 2006, 10:10 AM I personally hit each bodypart very hard (intense) once every 7 days.
However, w/your limitations in equipment and poundages, twice per week may be a good strategy.
