caryjohnson Tue, October 31st, 2006, 12:01 PM I had read an article a while back that explained that just by breastfeeding, a woman burns tons of calories from the generation of the milk. Now, not to rub anyone the wrong way, but could this also be quantified with semen production? I don't want to pull my own leg here and get my hopes up, but it seems like there must be some quantifiable amount of calories this action requires.

To be honest, I have no clue. I'd imagine building semen is accounted for in the body's normal day-to-day caloric and nutritional needs. I can't help but laugh at the following...

:lol: :lol: I don't think ejaculation (unless you have to break a sweat and vigorously work to get there for 5-15 minutes) accounts for many calories burned either. ;)

Seriously though - how do you expect this to assist you or anyone else with creating a caloric deficit of any significance? You're not kidding are you? :confused:

On the subject of burning callories in ways other than the normal training methods,..:) How does sex effect your recovery? There is the old idea of not having sex, or any overly exausting activity before a "Big game" or during a fighters training right before a big fight, as it will effect his over all performance.
Is there really any truth to this idea? I can see how any activity close to an event where you were to be at your best to perform, sex could take your legs right out from under you, so do you think it can effect recovery on a regular basis?

I would tend to think that the theory behind this would be having sex would "take the edge off" and perhaps "wimpify" the athlete before the big event.
The trainers want all of the bottled up agression and testosterone in the reserves for the fight/game.
I don't know what level of truth lies in this thinking though! :tu:

I realize we are all different in many ways, sex included. I can see how there could be a significant drain on a person, partaking in such activities, too close to an event of some type, and how that would definately effect the events performance.
