hi ladies and gent-
I am cutting and currently trying to do a 40/30/30 split of c/f/p. I had great results with this before....but it seems that every 3 days or so I CRAVE carbs. Does this happen to anyone else? My stats are female,
5'8", 140 pounds, bf???

I try not to eat anything refined but I have a real weakness for cereal - raisin bran particularly , though I pick out the raisins because I hate raisins. So, essentially, it is whole grain bran flakes - weird I know  . So, in the past day or two, i have eaten quite a bit of carbs, though mostly whole grain, beans, etc. but just TOO many. What is the best way to deal with carb overload? I have gained about 5pounds because with all of the carbs eaten and the gallon or so of water that I drink daily, I am very bloated.

My workout routine has suffered as well because I have severe asthma and therefore my cardio is much affected. So, I am trying to really tighten up my diet to make sure I don't veer of track. My goal is to get to 130 pounds which would be ideal and I feel that 40/30/30 split works best for me.

Discipline.

That's ultimately what it's going to take.

I love cereal too. Bran flakes are also one of the things I crave  I dont know why, they're just so simple and tasty and crunchy.

The only thing that worked for me, which may sound counterintuitive, was to eat a very low carb diet. I still had cravings from time to time, but they werent nearly as horribley intense or palpable.

Other than changing your diet, since you said it is working well for you, would be to find lower carbohydrate alternatives. Or maybe you could swap out something in your diet that you wouldnt miss as much as the bran flakes for instance.

I know that for me, cereal is the devil. It goes right to my waistline. I can tolerate a beer or two better than a bowl of cereal, though I do love it. Grape nuts, mmmmmmm. I had to just stop eating it. Now, when I have one of those carb fits and eat too much of something bad I jump right on the elliptical for another 45min. Cheese, pizza, processed meats, not a problem to give up but cereal is my Achilles heel.

I crave carbs every day. I consider it normal. I eat 250g to 300 grams of carbohydrates per day (about 50% of calories), and just under 100 grams of protein (20-25% of calories).

Does eating the carbohydrate rich foods cause you to go over your calorie target, or do you become bloated even though you're meeting your daily numbers?

If the 40/30/30 split really does work the best for you, then the other suggestions made by other members make more sense, but if you find yourself always going over your calorie limit because you're continually plagued with cravings, it might work better for you to simply lower your fat and protein consumption.

You also might want to send a private message to Justitia if she doesn't stop in. She's considering some kind of cleanse that someone recommended to her to calm the cravings.

I work a small treat of refined carbs
(200-300 calories) into my nutrition plan on a daily basis.
That way I get my "drug" and limit cravings at the same time. :)
